‘Hop’ hopping over to the top spot at the box office

The possibility of animated films leading the box office was really getting rather rare; in fact it had been quite a few months since any animated film has even made it to the spots in the box office. Yet, the animated genre finally made it to the box office with the release of ‘Hop’ by Universal Studios which surprisingly went on to top the box office.

Easter is certainly less than three weeks away and it is quite significant that this film follows the Easter theme. It seems like the Easter Bunny has retired and that leaves his son E.B. voiced by Russell Brand, to succeed him. E.B. is in fact portrayed more like a rock star bunny and along with the involvement of various other characters, the movie mainly follows E.B. as he struggles to take on the role of the Easter Bunny.

The $ 38.1 million success was indeed rather unexpected and surprising, which is what led the film to make it to the number one spot at the box office over films like Source Code that had a $ 15 million success and Insidious which grossed out at $ 13.5. Nonetheless, whether it was the Easter charm or the marvel of the film itself, it is now at the top of the box office and no one really expected it to be there. Yet, what can indeed be expected is that the movie will be fun to watch and a treat for kids and adults alike. The best part of all is that you no longer have to wait, since it has been released.
