After much anticipation, it was recently announced by Walt Disney Co. that Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides is going to be released on May 20th, in China which is in fact the same date that this movie is scheduled to be released all across the globe, including the U.S.
It is expected that this film would be taking up about 17 % of the box office gross in China as a part of its imported titles. Due to this news alone, the box office at China had a rise of 64 %.
In any case, the release of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides’ marks the return of Captain Jack Sparrow, portrayed by the ever so famous Johnny Depp. In fact, even Geoffrey Rush returns as the original villain of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. As for new characters, Ian McShane would be playing a more fearsome bad guy in the movie and Penelope Cruz has also been added to the cast, playing the role of a pretty trickster and acting as a romantic interest of Captain Sparrow.
It was in June 2007 that ‘Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End’ was released in China, but at that time the 3D era had not yet begun and therefore the release of ‘Pirates of the Caribbean 4: On Stranger Tides’ will surely prove to be something distinct in China. As for the rest of the world, almost everyone is impatiently waiting till they get to watch the film.
