Platoon brings its War Realism to Blu-ray

When it comes to war movies, we all have a preference for a little reality and Platoon by Oliver Stone is as realistic as it can be as a war movie. The realistic aspect of the movie is in fact the result of the screenplay which Stone loosely based on his experiences in Vietnam when he was a soldier. Furthermore, in order to ensure that he would get every technical aspect of the film correct, he even hired war veteran Dale Dye for help. Even the actors were trained in such a way that they truly felt like Vietnamese soldiers. The final result of it all is that the movie truly has all the right aspects to offer as a war movie.

Surely the story and the screenplay have the major role in portraying the true picture of ‘war’ but it is also the cast that truly add life to the movie. Oliver Stone was in fact able to assemble quite an amazing cast including Charlie Sheen, Forest Whitaker, John C. McGinley, Johnny Depp, Keith David, Kevin Dillon, Tom Berenger and Willem Dafoe. Thus this movie certainly has an ensemble cast and there is no doubt that it is quite a powerful movie.

As far as watching this realistic war movie is concerned, there’s no better way than to get the 25th Anniversary set by MGM. Getting ‘Platoon’ on Blu-ray is worth it not only because of the HD quality but also due to the extras such as deleted scenes, featurettes, documentaries, and much more.
