Just Go With It Blu-ray Review

Just Go With It is a romantic comedy starring Adam Sandler and Jennifer Aniston; and directed by Dennis Dugan who often collaborates with Sandler. The film revolves around Danny (Sandler), a middle-aged, plastic surgeon bachelor who pretends to be in a loveless and sometimes abusive marriage, in order to con women into having guilt sex with him.

What felt like the perfect plan for Danny all goes astray when he meets a schoolteacher named Palmer (Brooklyn Decker), who ultimately turns out to be the woman of his dreams. But when she finds his fake wedding band and believes he’s still married, it’s up to Danny to convince her that he’s in the middle of a messy divorce. To keep the woman he now loves, he enlists the help of his long time assistant Katherine (Jennifer Aniston) to act out the role of his soon to be ex-wife in order to cover up his lies.

However, covering up one lie only begins to mount into many lies. Danny makes matters worse when he involves Katherine’s kids, and eventually it all backfires, changing the course of their love-lives forever.

The 1080p video transfer quality of this release makes a stunning spectacle on the release. The skin tones are really life-like and portray skin color quite beautifully. The latter half of the film was filmed on location in Hawaii, which lends itself to some beautiful landscape shots, in addition to the tighter beach shots where the colors really pop off the screen. There are also quite a few night scenes, with amazingly deep blacks, including a luau scene that has a lot of nice and colorful moments.

The audio arrives to your sets with a crystal clear 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio track that lends itself perfectly to the release. There’s really not much to say about the audio track since I had almost no qualms with it. It’s easier to point out flaws that when something just got it right. Weather you’re listening to the musical score, or the dialogue, you’re surely going to be impressed with what you hear. The film doesn’t make use of house rattling bass, but the bit that is used is worth it for this type of release.

Thankfully this blu-ray release was brought to you by Sony. Unlike other companies Sony has continued to do an excellent job providing extra features to take advantage of the larger capacity of blu-ray discs. This release is no different. With that said, take a look at the special features:

If you’re a fan of RomComs, or of the lead actors, then you’re certainly in for a treat with this film. If you’re one that doesn’t mind buying movies brand new upon first release, then I would recommend you add it to your collection. The audio/video are near perfect and will certainly never see a better release any time in the near future. If you’re more of the frugal type like me, then I’d suggest waiting until the film hits a price you’re comfortable with, however I will say that this isn’t a film you’ll want to pass up.
