Baaria to be Released on Blu-ray on October 18th

The 2009 Italian film Baarìa is now set to be released on Blu-ray by Image Entertainment. The film was directed by Italian director Giuseppe Tornatore who has worked on movies such as Malena and Cinema Paradiso. The cast of the film includes mostly includes Italian actors who have worked in American movies like Francesco Scianna, Raoul Bova, Margareth Madè and most notably Monica Bellucci. The film had made its debut in September 2009 as the opening film of the 66th Venice International Film Festival where it also won the Pasinetti Award for Best Film. October 18th has been confirmed as the date when the blu-ray version of the film will be released.

The film is set in the Sicilian town of Baaria as its name suggests and showcases the evolution of country through the course of a lifetime of a young boy named Peppino. ‘Baaria’ is the nickname that is given to the Sicilian town of Bagheria by its residents where Peppino beings working as a shepherd in order to support his family. During the course of his life after experiencing the passionate love of his life, undergoing a strong political awakening he eventually ends up discovering an unimaginable destiny.

This film can definitely be considered visually enriching with a mesmerizing score coming from Ennio Morricone, the legendary Academy Award-winning composer. Baaria therefore used amazing cinematic power to capture the eye catching beauty of the past century. Even though the two versions of this film are in Sicilian and Italian, this movie still a must watch.
