The Pebble And The Penguin Making It’s Way to Blu-ray

The Pebble and the Penguin is a film that was produced way back in 1995 and was directed by Don Bluth. Now this year in 2011, it has finally been announced that 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment is bringing the film to Blu-ray. In fact the 11th of October has been confirmed as the date the Blu-ray version of the film will be released.

The mating rituals of Adélie Penguins that reside in Antarctica, is the theme around which this film revolves. The film follows Hubie’s quest to win over heart of Marina, his one and only true love. His plans are hurdled when a larger male by the name of Drake, gets in the way of Hubie, making certain that Hubie is pushed away and Marina is left all for him.

The original budget of the film could not be recouped when The Pebble and the Penguin was released in 1995 because both audiences and critical acclaim were not adequately attracted by the film. A DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 is going to be featured in the Blu-ray release of The Pebble and the Penguin. The Blu-ray version of the film is also expected to include special features like:

No Stone Unturned: Making-of Featurette

Now and Forever: Music Featurette

Amazon has started providing pre-orders of the film and the current retail price is $19.99. Considering today’s movie audiences this animated film might receive much more attention now that it is coming to Blu-ray and all we can do is wait till October 11 to get our hands on it.
