The Rocketeer Coming to Blu-ray on December 13

The Rocketeer is undoubtedly quite an admirable catalog title from the 90s and the fact that a 20th Anniversary screening was held by Disney last June, makes it quite evident. The El Capitan theater was the venue of the event, where not only the original props and collectible merchandise were displayed but even a brand new event of the film was featured.

A great news that was not actually unveiled at the event itself but has recently been confirmed is the fact that The Rocketeer will soon be released in high definition.

It was back in 1991 that the film was featured in theatres but the main reason that it failed at attracting an adequate amount of audience was due to the lack of positive reviews. The film was directed by Joe Johnston, who is also the director of Captain America: The First Avenger. The film is set in California during the 1930s. The plot of the film revolves around fortunate mechanic and stunt pilot (Billy Campbell) who finds Howard Hughes’s jet-pack. This film is in fact an adaptation of Dave Stevens’s retro comic book. The rest of the cast of the film also includes Alan Arkin, Jennifer Connelly and Timothy Dalton.

The reason that makes the release of this film to Blu-ray such a big news is fact Disney seems to be slow paced when it comes to releasing titles to Blu-ray. The 13th of December has been confirmed as the release date of the this 20th Anniversary Edition Blu-ray.
