Contagion Tops the Box Office with all its Thrills and Chills

With Warner Bros. Pictures distributing the film and with Steven Soderbergh having directed it, there seemed to be no doubt that Contagion would add thrills to the fall movie season. In fact the all star cast is adequate enough to encourage movie goers to go watch this film. The film stars Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Gwyneth Paltrow, Laurence Fishburne and Marion Cotillard.

The Help might have topped the Box Office three weeks in a row, but the spot finally got taken over upon the release of Contagion. A $23.1 million debut market place was inoculated by the film. Unlike recent thriller films, Contagion actually featured quite a brainy plot that had a certain tautness to it, which managed to draw out highly sophisticated move goers.

Not only this, Contagion was also the first thriller to be ever featured on the IMAX giant screens, earning a total of $2.3 million during the weekend after its release.

The fifth weekend has finally been wrapped up by The Help and the Disney film from Dreamworks Pictures managed to earn a total of $140 million. Sales of the film might have dropped down this weekend, but still managing to stay at the second spot, is still a quite an achievement on its part.

Next in line is Warrior by Lionsgate, which earned a total of $5.6 million this weekend and landed itself in the third place at the Box Office. The film stars Tom Hardy from Inception and Joel Edgerton.

As for Contagion, this is definitely a thriller movie lovers would not want to miss.
