Unboxing and review of DC Legion of Collectors box – May 2016 – DC TV from Funko!

Funko and DC’s latest subscription box has released and we have it!  The theme this time around is “DC TV” and they’ve included pieces from The CW’s ARROW, The CW’s THE FLASH, and CBS’ SUPERGIRL.  This is a bi-monthly subscription box, which you can pay for per box at $25 USD or you can pay for an annual membership at $150 USD.  Both price points are before the taxes and shipping charges.  So let’s dive in and check out this box!

With each box, you get the pin and patch that relate to the theme. The pin has The Atom on it from DC’s LEGENDS OF TOMORROW and patch the red, blue, and yellow “S” from The Supergirl.

All of the items included are exclusive to the subscription and always tie in well with the theme.  There is a collectible item that is a part of what started the whole Funko craze: the POP! vinyl figure. In the box is the exclusive Earth-2 Flash, Jay Garrick.  He is in the classic silver helmet with wings, red jacket and blue pants.  If you’re a Flash figure collector like me, this is the only place that you can get this bad boy and he is pretty awesome.  He has clean paint job with the appropriate paint texture for the various parts of his costume.  When I first unpacked the figure, my immediate worry was that he was going to be top-heavy and fall over.  Fear not because he has some good heft to him and they got the center-of-gravity right.  He looks excellent and the wings on the helmet are huge.  I love the show’s rendition of the Golden Age Flash.

The second figure in the box is based on CBS’ SUPERGIRL from Funko’s newest line called Rock Candy.  So far the licensing seems to only be with DC and they stand at about 5” tall.  Included in the collection are Supergirl, Wonder Woman, Harley Quinn, and Batgirl.  The common Supergirl figure is based on the comic book version and the exclusive version is based on the TV show. If you watch the show, there are some subtle differences like her hairstyle, the hues in her costume, and the texture of her top.  She almost has an anime look to her with the larger eyes and she is in a cool stance.  She comes with a clear disc stand to make sure that she won’t topple over.  I’m highly interested to see where this line goes with other figures and licenses.

The t-shirt included is from The CW’s ARROW.  Its black and has a design with The Green Arrow’s picture on it with the caption “Star City’s Only Weapon: Oliver Queen”.  This is definitely a great shirt for fans of The Arrow. Also, the comic book included is The Flash issue # 123 from the current run. It features Grant Gustin on the cover and it looks like a promo photo.

This is another excellent box from DC’s Legion of Collectors, packed with a lot of very cool things.  So far they have kept their promise not to include fluff or fillers so I can still highly recommend signing up for the DC Box.
