R2-D2 actor Kenny Baker passes away at age 81

Very sad news as British actor Kenny Baker has passed away today at 81. He struggled with an illness for years and it claimed him today. Baker is best-known for his work as the lovable droid from the STAR WARS franchise, R2-D2. At 3’8″ tall, he began his career in 1950 at the age of 16 as a circus clown in pantomime. Some of his other films include TIME BANDITS and FLASH GORDON. A little piece of many people’s childhood was lost with him, including mine.

Our thoughts are with his family and loved ones. We hope they know that he will be missed.
