Fox unsheathes new LOGAN trailer

20th Century Fox has released the latest (and presumably final) trailer for LOGAN, Hugh Jackman’s last outing as the mutant known as Wolverine. Check it out below:

As Jackman recently posted on his Instagram account, the official synopsis for the film is as follows:

In the near future, a weary Logan cares for an ailing Professor X in a hideout on the Mexican border. But Logan’s attempts to hide from the world and his legacy are up-ended when a young mutant arrives, being pursued by dark forces.

That young mutant, as this new trailer finally confirms, is Laura Kinney, aka X-23. Laura, a clone of Logan, was created during Season 3 of the X-MEN: EVOLUTION animated series by Craig Kyle. A year later, she made her first comic book appearance in Marvel’s NYX #3. Since then, she’s become a staple of the mutant-side of Marvel’s universe.

It’s expected that this will be Jackman’s final film as Logan (he’s said on many occasions that this is his swan song), though there’s been teases lately between himself and Ryan Reynolds that a possible Wolverine/Deadpool team-up film could happen one day. While Reynolds’ future as Deadpool has just begun (the real Deadpool, anyway), Jackman has been playing Wolverine since 2000’s X-MEN. Seventeen years and nine films is a long time for an actor to stay dedicated to one character. One can only hope that this team-up film happens, though nothing is guaranteed. One thing that is for sure is that Reynolds is surely hoping it’ll happen.

James Mangold returns to direct LOGAN after helming the character’s last solo film, THE WOLVERINE. It’s written by Mangold, Michael Green (BLADE RUNNER 2049), and Scott Frank (THE WOLVERINE) from a story by Mangold and David James Kelly. The film stars Jackman, Sir Patrick Stewart as Charles Xavier, and Dafne Keen as X-23.

LOGAN slashes into theaters March 3rd, 2017.
