From Mondo’s press release yesterday

We’re thrilled to announce our next gallery show, “Mondo x Cyclops Print Works Present Never Grow Up: A Disney Art Show.” The show kicks off with two events, free and open to the public. The opening night reception will be held Friday, April 28 from 3:00 – 10:00pm, followed by a special “Mondo Clubhouse” Kids Party on Saturday, April 29, from 10am – Noon featuring Disney-inspired treats, face painting, photo booth, and other fun activities!

Following these events, the show will run during regular gallery hours (12PM – 6PM) through May 13th. Mondo Gallery is located at 4115 Guadalupe Street in Austin, TX.

2“On our list of dream opportunities, hosting another Disney gallery show was always near the top,” said Mondo Co-Founder and Creative Director Mitch Putnam. “Luckily, Cyclops came through and granted our wish. This time around, we’ve got some new artists in the mix, some new titles, and overall, just a different vibe from the first show. We can’t wait for you to see what we’ve put together. It’s pretty special.”

Featuring the work of more than 25 of Mondo’s most renowned artists taking on their favorite Disney films, “Mondo x Cyclops Print Works Present Never Grow Up: A Disney Art Show” invites fans of all ages to explore exciting new interpretations of Disney’s beloved classic and modern masterpieces. Here’s a look at just a few of the pieces that will be featured in the show:

3Mondo x Cyclops Print Works #04: 101 Dalmatians by Jonathan Burton

“I think that 101 DALMATIANS is the most beautiful of the Disney films, principally as it was the first time they used the artists’ original line drawings in the final cells through the process of the copy machine,” said artist Jonathan Burton. “The line work is sketchy, the color misaligned and it makes for a style full of life. My poster pays tribute to this, and in particular the rough production drawings of Disney’s Ken Anderson who himself was inspired by Ronald Searle.”

4Mondo x Cyclops Print Works #05: Aladdin by Matt Taylor

“I think ALADDIN is peak modern Disney, so having the chance to do my own take on it is pretty much a dream project,” said artist Matt Taylor. “I wanted to try and incorporate some classical Arabian styling and decoration into the piece, but I think the most enjoyable part was getting to draw that Genie busting out of the lamp. The first Mondo/Disney show was one of my all time favorites that they have thrown, and I’d been hoping that they’d go back to the well. I’ve got one wish granted now, better figure out what to do with the other two…”

5Mondo x Cyclops Print Works #06: Big Hero 6 by Ken Taylor

“Watching a Disney movie together with my kids is amazing, but making artwork for one of their favorite films takes it to the next level,” said artist Ken Taylor. “BIG HERO 6 is my eldest daughter’s favorite, and I love so much about this film. The story is super fun, but it’s the city that gets me in; the opportunity to draw San Fransokyo has been a blast and one of the best film poster experiences I have had. Hopefully folks dig it as much as I do.”
