Unboxing the August 2017 LOOT CRATE – KINGDOM

Each month, Loot Crate curates a box of nerdy goodness for their subscribers with unique items that feature a unique theme for that month. For August, that theme is Kingdom, featuring products from ADVENTURE TIME, THE LEGEND OF ZELDA, and THE LORD OF THE RINGS.

ADVENTURE TIME “Nice King” and Gunter Figure (Loot Cate)
Oh My Glob! This Nice King Figure featuring the Ice King with his loyal pet Gunter and Penguin guards as he rules over the Ice Kingdom in the Land of Ooo. Sometimes a villain sometimes a protagonist this figure will lets you show off your appreciation for the Ice Kingdom from Cartoon Network’s Adventure Time.

Licensed by Nintendo. This shirt serves a dual purpose. Harkening back to its origin the shirt features a bit of map from the Kingdom of Hyrule while also creating an overall design of Link in his 8-Bit form. The story of Zelda has endured for over 30 years from its simple design all the way to the newest generation of consoles with blazing graphics.

No other fantasy Kingdom would exist if it were not for Middle Earth. Outside of the currently hot Westeros nothing epitomizes fantasy more than Lord of the Rings. This color changing glass features the text that appears on the one ring when held up to flames. When cold liquid is poured in watch as the text changes from white to red.

THE LORD OF THE RINGS Art Print (Bottleneck Gallery)
Featuring the Ents march on Isenguard in the Two Towers the print reflects that not all is lost. The 8×10 print features Treebeard’s assault on Isengaurd with the help of Merry and Pippin. Bottleneck Gallery is a friend of Hi-Def Ninjas so I was super excited to see this print by Matt Ferguson appear in this month’s box!

Loot Crate has designed their own crest and have turned it into a coat of arms pin. The Loot Crate box even turns into a shield that you can draw your own coat of arms onto!
DSC08698Final thoughts on the June LOOT CRATE:

While this month featured less properties than other months the ones they chose were all quality. I maybe would have liked to see a Walking Dead item considering there is a Kingdom literally named The Kingdom but that is beside the point. Four great properties were chosen that all stand the test of time.

Mike’s favorite item: THE LORD OF THE RINGS Art Print

I’m a huge fan of Bottlenecks’s work so naturally to me this item was my favorite. It epitomizes good taking a stand against evil and Matt Ferguson (@Cake_Comics) does an amazing job depicting this iconic scene. The glass is nice but seeing as you have to hold up the ring to flames to see the elvish text in the books whereas you have to pour a cold beverage to get the text to change colors I had to take a few points away from the glass.

Finally, if you like what you see and want to start getting your own loot including LOOTPETS, LOOTANIME, LOOTGAMING, LOOT CRATE, or LOOT CRATE DX (as well as upgrades from accessories to socks and wearables), head over to the LOOT CRATE site and sign up.
