STAR WARS: REBELS Complete Season 4 Blu-ray Review

[wp-review id=”93045″]

With the Rebellion growing in numbers, the crew of The Ghost has been doing what they can against Admiral Thrawn and The Galactic Empire.  Their story is coming to an end and with that, there will be a lot of changes to the crew.  They will pinpoint their purpose in life and bring the hurt to The Empire.

This season was a slow burn with the show runners knowing that this would tie-up the series.  The characters come full circle from their smuggling beginnings to becoming the go-to team in the Rebellion.  The end is sad but very satisfying and a nice way to close things out.  It just shows how much better a series can close out when it’s planned rather than being pulled without notice.

Cast
Taylor Gray – Ezra Bridger
Freddie Prinze, Jr. – Kanan Jarrus
Vanessa Marshall – Hera Syndulla
Tiya Sircar – Sabine Wren
Steven Blum – Garazeb “Zeb” Orrelios

VIDEO QUALITY:

The video is a 1080p AVC presentation that shows the small upticks in animated quality since the show began.  There are small details that show emotional changes and even after someone has been crawling around in something like a vent.  Structures and vehicles have weathering as well as imperfections to make everything feel more lived-in.  The coloring is always stellar with the uniforms being bright.  Sabine’s graffiti along with her uniform looks bold and brilliant.  Lightsabers have a neon-esque glow.  The blacks are deep and have some excellent looking contrasting.

AUDIO QUALITY:

The audio is a Dolby Digital 5.1 mix that, like usual, is something from a DVD release.  There is no HD track but things sound amazing.  The blaster effects, ships, and lightsabers all have their iconic sound.  There is plenty of movement in the action scenes in the speakers.  Dialogue is clear and easy to understand.

THE BOTTOM LINE:

The final season of STAR WARS REBELS is filled with emotion and has a lot of moments that the fans have been waiting anxiously to see.  It is a shame that the show has been cancelled but the people over at Disney have done a great job with the Blu-ray releases.  The video is perfect but that non-HD audio is still a downer.  I’m sure, in time, they will release a version with a better mix.  The extras are decent with some insight on the show.  Either way, this is a good release and it is worth picking up to round off your collection.
