[NYCC 2019] Collectibles, Figures, and Statue Booths on the Show Floor at New York Comic Con

With the 2019 New York Comic Con in the books it’s time to get to all the great things that happened over the course of the four day pop-culture celebration. Bringing hundreds of thousands of fans to the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center in Manhattan NYCC is a celebration of all things pop culture from comics, video games, TV, movies, collectibles, posters, and artists. There is always a tremendous amount to do throughout the weekend including panels, exhibit floor, artist alley, and offsite activations

As normal I’ll be separating my coverage of the floor into a few categories as well as splitting up the coverage of panels and a few other areas. Here I’ll focus on a few companies that focus on collectible figures and statues as well as related products.

Let’s begin…

Sideshow
https://www.sideshow.com/
I really enjoy the Sideshow presence at NYCC; while their footprint is much smaller than at San Diego Comic-Con I feel Sideshow does an exceptional job at bringing a focused set of figures featuring their newest and top products. On display were a normal fare of DC, Marvel, Star Wars, and Court of the Dead. Some of the coolest pieces to me included the Mandalorian and Scarecrow figures. However a new venture seemed to be their Unruly Toys Designer line with the Universal Monsters and stylized Marvel figures. To celebrate the collaboration and promote the upcoming Spooktacular the pin giveaway this year was a stylized splotch pin from the Unruly Toys line but with some added Statue of Liberty flair. I’m sure Michael Madison will have a much more in-depth look from them but here are a few photos.

Mezco Toys
https://www.mezcotoyz.com/
Mezco Toyz, based in Long Island City, makes action figures and other collectibles based on original and licensed properties. At the convention Mezco continued to showcase their products including many figures from their One:12 Collective as well as other product lines including the Living Dead Dolls and Mez-its. In 2019 they had two one:12 Collective figures a Agent Gomez and a Batman and Black Mask Two Pack. Also unveiled at the convention was a Wonder Woman Classic Edition for pre-order which as of writing this article is still available. I really enjoy how strong this company has become over the years and I hope to see them at upcoming shows!

Dark Horse
https://www.darkhorse.com/
As one of the top publishers in the comic industry Dark Horse always has a large presence at both San Diego Comic-Con and at New York Comic Con. The booth is always a hub for signings, exclusives, giveaways, and product reveals. Dark Horse also usually has panel programming as well. At NYCC they continued that trend with a slew of relevant signings including Resident Alien with Alan Tudyk, Yoshitaka Amano, and a signing by members of the Umbrella Academy, and the cast of the Orville. On display were new art prints and figures from Dark Horse Direct.

Exclusives included many different properties such as The Umbrella Academy, Hellboy, American Gods, Henchgirl, and Game of Thrones to name a few.

XM Studios
https://www.xm-studios.com/
XM Studios returned to NYCC to showcase their high value limited and extremely detailed quality statues. On display were a range of figures from Marvel and DC featuring more traditional statues as well as more stylized versions. This year their main figure was an astounding JLA vs. Darkseid statue and while it was not painted you could still see the incredible detail in the statue. Expect to spend a pretty penny if you want to add that to your collection.

Star Ace Toys Limited
http://starace.com.hk/
Star Ace Toys Ltd was formed in 2013 with X-Plus. They bring high quality 1:6 collectible figures. On top of the collectible figures from popular lines like Harry Potter, DC, King Kong, Hunger Games, 300, and Pulp Fiction Star ACE also has their DefoReal series a line of non-articulated simplified toys.

Pop Culture Shock (PCS) Collectibles
https://www.popcultureshocktoys.com/en/
PCS Collectibles create larger (1:4 to 1:3) scale quality collectibles. This year they showed off their Street Fighter, Transformers, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Escape from NY figures as well as a WWE The Rock figure.

Bluefin/Bandai

Bluefin is a leading North American master distributor of toys, collectibles, novelty and hobby products and are the official exclusive North American distributor for Bandai Collectors, aka “Tamashii Nations,” Bandai Hobby, Bandai Shokugan, Mr. Hobby and GSI Creos, SEN-TI-NEL, Flame Toys and are the exclusive U.S. distributor for Storm Collectibles. Bluefin is also the official North American consumer products and retail development partner for Studio Ghibli. At NYCC Bluefin had a large display of Street Fighter, Mortal Kombat, Gundam, Godzilla, Ultraman, Star Wars, Ultraman, Naruto, and Dragonball.

Koto/Kotobukiya

While technically two separate booths Koto Inc is the official North American Distributor for Kotobukiya. Kotobukiya produces high quality Japanese figures and statues from a range of lines including Marvel, DC, Harry Potter, Devil May Cry, Star Wars, Godzilla, and It to name a few.

Another familiar sight from Five Points Festival Martian Toys specialize in one-of-a-kind custom designer vinyl toys. Like they did at that show Martian Toys had a custom show featuring well known well known artists creating unique figures for their MEGA NYCc custom show
