So people have said, though this began filming before The Raid. I love both movies.
Really? Well may be Raid copied Dredd then:watch: And to make it worse, I watched Dredd after couple of days of watching The Raid. So although I loved the action in Dredd, I couldn't bring myself to love the movie.

I've always loved Dredd and the universe he occupies so I was looking forward to a decent version of the character and, whilst not perfect, was as good as I'd hoped for.

No offence intended but I find this mentality slightly frustrating. Sure, Dredd went into production before The Raid but that doesn't mean that the folks who made The Raid copied Dredd. Is it so unrealistic that two filmmakers on two different sides of the planet made films that share a concept? It was just a coincidence that actually amused both Alex Garland and Gareth Evans. Garland likes The Raid. Evans likes Dredd. I like both films too :) There was no copying, end of story really.

Ahh, no apology necessary, my friend. I was more lashing out at the idea itself, that one film copied the other. I wasn't really having a go at you, you know? :) Like, if you Google.. "The Raid/Dredd".. you end up with message-board topics like... "The new Judge Dredd movie and it's blatant plagerism.". That's the kind of thing which frustrates me. People who type before they think and whatnot. I dunno. I'm rambling now. Heh.

Sadly there is no industry, be it movies, music or video games, where plagiarism raises its head on a regular basis. I believe in this instance however it was just coincidence. Both great action movies from 2 good directors.

This is a beautiful looking design! And Raid/Dredd Dredd/Raid doesn't matter to me. It's a chicken or the egg question. They're both badass films that I will watch over and over and deserve glorious steelbook treatment!

O really? I had no idea of the connection until alphatyrant pointed it out earlier. I thought it was just me since I never looked it up. I can understand the lashing out, so no worries :p but we shall stop here since it's going off topic :)

Yeah I love how on this one you can move the discs to simulate the smoke from the building.
I'm not quite seeing this, care to explain a bit more? When does the simulation happen? When we completely remove the discs or move it while it's still in the holder?
