From Variety:
Though "The Avengers" continues to dominate the global box office, Marvel is not slowing down on preparations for its future endeavors, as Mads Mikkelsen is in talks to star as one of the villains in Disney and Marvel's "Thor 2."
It is unknown at this time exactly what part he will play, but Tom Hiddleston will still have a big part as antagonist Loki. Marvel declined to comment on the casting.

[...]
(Mikkelsen) Best known for his role as the villain in "Casino Royale,"

Loved it in Casino Royale, so should be interesting :)

Some folks, even Hemsworth is speculating that Thanos will be one of the villans. If you recall the infinite gauntlet is in the vault of Asgard palace ;)

Woot. So Iron Man 3 and Thor 2 both in 2013? I am so there. I wonder if Thanos will come to Asgard to mete out some retribution to Loki?

From Empire Magazine via CBM:

What we can expect:
“We’re going to see the other side of Asgard. It’s not all polished and golden in this film. And the events of Avengers will have affected Thor for sure. His relationship with Loki will continue to evolve, and the biggest part is Natalie and Thor returning with Jane Foster.”

And concerning the future vilain, can we expect Thanos:
“No, future, future. But there will be a major new villain. A major, major new antagonist…”

From CBM:
Badtaste.it attended a Disney convention with John Lasseter today in Riccione Italy.

Nothing really fancy, but Marvel's Phase II is on it's way! :scat:

From FirstShowing.net
Well, the new Silence of the Lambs TV series adaptation "Hannibal" is really screwing things up for Marvel comic book movie fans. First of all, yesterday David Slade was said to no longer be directing the Daredevil reboot because of his schedule to direct the pilot for the new series on NBC. Now another scheduling issue has come up for on screen talent this time. Zoomin Movies (via The Playlist) recently spoke with Mads Mikkelsen, who will be playing Hannibal Lecter in the new series, and he revealed that his schedule for the show will not allow him to play the villain in Thor 2, as we had heard a little while back. Well, that blows.

We're still not sure who Mikkelsen would have been playing, but his talent would've made for a great comic book bad guy to face off against Chris Hemworth as Thor in the sequel from "Game of Thrones" director Alan Taylor. So now we're left without a lead villain, though Tom Hiddleston will be back as Loki, and we're not sure who else will step up for the part. Could we maybe find out this week during Marvel's panel at Comic-Con? There have been rumblings of a few surprises at the panel, so maybe some casting news would be part of that. Either way, the next phase of Marvel's cinematic universe will come to light very soon.

Damn... :(
