New regimes usually mean new QB's which is expected. But seeing a star RB that the team had to trade up to acquire being sent away after 18 games almost never happens. Ironically, the Colts traded a young 'now' hall of fame RB named Marshall Faulk to the Rams which was just as shocking then as the T-Rich move that happenned today.
In order for this trade to make any since, Cleveland must be targeting atleast three 2014 prospects.
- QB Teddy Bridgewater, Louisville
- DE Jadeveon Clowney, South Carolina
- ???
It's obvious they are trying to "TANK FOR TEDDY" but their is no guarentee that they could move up to the 1st pick if they don't finish last. Jacksonville is my projected team to own the #1 pick, and seeing that the Louisville QB Teddy Bridgewater is from Florida, their is no way the Jags pass on him.
Say if they finish with the 3rd pick overall, Bridgewater & Clowney is gone by the time they pick and this whole thing is an EPIC FAIL seeing that they threw away the season and their best offensive player in Trent Richardson to gain position. Where do they go??? Do they reach that high for:
- QB Johnny Manziel, Texas A&M
- QB Brett Hundley, UCLA (Sophmore/RS/May stay in school)
- QB Sammy Morris, Miami (FL)
- QB David Fales, San Jose State
- QB Marcus Mariota, Oregon
Manziel is the only other name, that makes since but he has the intangibles but lacks the measurables that would warrant that pick (See Drew Brees - 2nd Round Pick, and Russell Wilson - 3rd Round Pick as evidence). The other QBs mentioned above are could B's but you don't wrist a lottery pick on a could B, I forgot we are talking about Mike Lombardi and the Browns, so who knows.
Best case scenario if the Browns gets the 2nd overall, is to draft South Carolina DE Jadeveon Clowney and hope that the other QB they have to be considering at this point is still there.
