I watched the blu ray recently. absolutley dreadful, I can't imagine this will look much bettter as 28 Days Later was primarily shot on the Canon XL1, a consumer-grade MiniDV camcorder recording in 480p standard definition. Would like to be proved wrong though.

Feel the exact same. And that dreadfulness is part of the experience so I can’t see how that’s improved. I like the back art though

Regardless of the transfer quality, it's still a nice option for those of us who missed the original steel.

I'm the first to admit it's a net positive if the transfer improves on the the original Bluray.
I just can't see it being better by a significant margin, otherwise just release as a Blu-ray only steel? All parties get the win then. Honestly, if they'd have just released it as a BR Steel for 2025/26 and be done with it, without a doubt it would still have flown off the shelves and most aficionados would have been happy.
Super interested in how this turns though.

Oh, nice. I'll have to reorder this with rarewaves next time they have a 10% code offer code then. Seemed like it wasnt coming.

This is getting absolutely torn to shreds on social media. Someone even finding an audio from last year with Boyle and the interviewer says he can’t wait for the 4K and Boyle replies laughing saying he has no idea what it will improve. Apart from the final part that was filmed on film. He says that part will look nice vibrant

Heard the same audio. We all said it when it was announced didn't we mate... ultimately it'll be on the studios head but Boyle putting his name to it does make me intrigued why he'd do that haha

September 1 is the USA release date a Tuesday

UK release dates are on a Monday so Amazon/Zavvi/HMV must have wrong date

I expect will be Monday August 31 for the UK release

Release date in Republic of Ireland is Friday August 28 as physical media DVD/Blu-ray/UHD releases are on a Friday in Ireland while UK is a Monday
Golden Discs have listed as Friday August 28

I re-watched the Blu-ray release couple of weeks ago and I'm curious to see what they have done to the PQ to justify a 4K UHD release

Great film, but the PQ is like pre-VHS

It’s literally the last scene that will have any kind of visual improvement. I think the sound is really the only thing they can improve on the whole film
