Tighter grain and significantly reduced noise levels -- especially during darker scenes.

correct 1.85:1 aspect ratio instead of 1.78:1

dual-layered (66GB) UHD disc exhibits mild amounts of macro blocking that, while much less offensive than the Blu-ray's noise-riddled appearance, are still noticeable and could have been alleviated on a triple-layered disc with more room to breathe

It's not too bad, I'm not one of these where everything has to be glossy. The zero finish on the gloves works for me and the matte finish works well with the VHS theme.
It is quite streaky though from that photo, it's not the end of the world but it could have been so good...

The front doesn't look particularly streaky in hand tbh, not in my opinion anyway. The back does, mainly because of the colour and all the empty space.

such a shame. the slip is awesome but the finish on the steel is absolute dogshit, this could of been one of the best releases of 2024 but they failed.

I’m also perfectly fine with higher quality matte steelbooks, particularly when they have nice spot zero finish. But if they are going to charge out the arse for a supposedly limited “ultimate collector’s edition,” then they should include a steelbook that justifies the price, and neither that finish nor that back are sufficient. And for what it’s worth, it’s also BS that they advertised it on preorder with particular disc art and a #/4000 certificate, and then they released it without the art (from what I’ve read) and an absurd #/27,400 number. Typical bush league WB. Universal UK releases put this to shame.

I can’t get over the glass of milk on the back. Agree with all above. Who on earth came up with that and thought it was good and then who signed it off?

The back artwork of the SteelBook was known about since August

I posted in the thread a mockup that showed the SteelBook front/back/inside artwork post #93

Just went back and had a look. It shows a bit of the back. It certainly doesn’t do justice to just how bad it’s come out.

I have issues with the outer box, let alone the steelbook.

Warner never released the first Elm Street on VHS (certainly in the UK), but have gone out of their way to make it look like an old VHS tape.

Even if they had, it wouldn't have had that old style WB logo. I'm pretty sure the one used on WB VHS tapes was the more modern one by then (the one Elm Street 2 & 3 used).

It uses the font design which, AFAIK, was used on the US packaging on parts 2, 3, 4 & 5 (only part 4 used that font in the UK VHS era). Part 1 used the one that's on the actual steelbook from the EiV VHS release onwards.

It really looks like a rear view of Freddy on the front making the glove on the wrong hand. Even if it's not, it's sloppy.

As per usual, the Freddy on the back is from Elm Street 4. It seems to be Warner"s default picture setting for any Elm Street box.

The whole thing is lazy.

The steelbook isn't much better. The back is terrible (I get what they were going for) and the finish is terrible.
