Lol. And on the left corner measuring at 12 oz's is the undisputed heavyweight champion, Al.....addinnnnnnnn! (crowd goes wild)

Todays challenger from Korea measuring at 11.7 oz's is the robot from the future, T2!!!! :hilarious:

The point is, some sort of border IS a design necessity in order to emboss a steelbook. They don't do it for a laugh.

when did I say they were doing it for a laugh?

point is, its not always needed and with full frontal artwork it looks horrid IMO

The only times an embossed border should be use are when an actual border is begin used in the artwork i.e. play.com's IM1 or Transformers steels - both gorgeous examples of a border used perfectly, or when the artwork doesnt fill the front i.e. HMV's Thor (plain BG and Thor stood in the middle so the border was fine.)

Is the border really that bad? That's probably the last thing that my eyes are drawn to when I look at the cover

to me - yeah. It kinda ruins it a bit for me :(
In the same vein as Plays IM2...the artwork filled the front so there was no need for a border that imposes on the artwork. Just seems cheap or more like a rush job IMO.

I don't think you really understand the point of the border - it is not a design choice in any way so saying that some work because of the artwork is not relevant.

The border is there so that the embossed area such as the title in this case is not sticking out higher than the rest of the front cover, ensuring against damage to the title during transit or when it rubs against another steelbook on your shelf.

well I'd rather have no border at all in situations like this,

and surely embossing/debossing should be design choices? it is, afterall, part of the overall steelbook design is it not (btw not getting at you in anyway :) )

Yeah the embossing/debossing are design choices, but the need for some type of border unfortunately cannot be avoided. They managed to be a bit inventive on certain titles like Roger Rabbit but 99% of embossed steels will have the standard frame.

I agree not every steel has to be embossed, everyone wants variety, but clearly embossing is getting some peoples backs up at the moment because I've never seen so much talk about borders. Personally the border has never bothered me one bit.

99% have the border but I bet only about 30% are truly enhanced by it...sadly :(

I'll be honest, on some steels it doesn't bother me whether its embossed, debossed or uberbossed or whatever, but some steels I like to display outwardly rather than store away so only the spines showing, and Disney steels are some I'm most proud to own and enjoy showing them off, so titles like this bring out the snotty 'I want it my way' brat in me I'm afraid.

Ok enough of the packaging, whats the PQ & Sound like in Blu Ray anyone?

exactly the same as the ameray version released a few months back
I'd be surprised it anything has changed on the disc contents to be honest

Glad this is embossed as well. Only Zavvi could have done this as good as this, I would have missed this completely though if it wasn't for HDN. what a partnership this is turning out to e. thank you to all the staff at HDN. Thank you for this steelbooks first class

Why are you spamming every thread with this crap?

I don't think the border fits this steelbook. It certainly looks better than expected despite the artwork, but I don't see why they couldn't have aligned the border with the logo banner and just embossed the letters.
