For those who dont know it is often typical for studios to do a small amount past the print run to cover damages and/or use for in house promos etc.

Towards the end of fiscal years this stock can also be shifted to retailers etc if they so choose to purchase.

This is your friendly HDN alert that Zavvi will most likely be taking on this amount of stock

AVIATOR, THE
175 QTY
(sold out-live the other day)

THERE WILL BE BLOOD
100 QTY
(Sold out)

BOY IN STRIPED PYJAMAS, THE
100 QTY
(Live)

FROM DUSK TILL DAWN
40 QTY
(Sold out)
The stock when live probably wont last longer than a day. (or a few hours...)

But we were able to talk with Zavvi and allowed to share this info as a step further in their commitment to collectors.

ps. im sure if it goes live and you think you can place an order for 100 its gonna get canceled. ;)

The Aviator hasn't even been released, how do they know they can cover damage? ;)

I would hope/suspect that they will either hold X amount back or have ... or them knowing their business have a pretty good inclination on the amount of cancellations and/or faulty cards that will happen at time of shipment. My guess is the latter since this happens very often from numbers I've personally seen.

Is this why Entertainment Store sometimes acquire a few dozen copies of a long sold out title, seemingly out of nowhere?

coooooool, so i have a chance of getting there will be blood after all :D

any idea what day these will go live? or even better what time?

I quite fancy a copy of Aviatar. As for The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas, that'll stick around for at least a week. I might eat my words though.

I really want the Aviator does anyone have any clue about when they go live?

Please let me know or pm me :)

Thank you

Hey guys, I don't believe there is a way to 're-instate' orders in their system-you would have to reorder. I don't have any more info on what happened with cancellations but I sincerely hope everyone that wants to own any of these will have a shot this time. We'll post if there is a specific time, not to worry.

Zavvi need to change their basket/trolley policy's items shouldn't be selling out whist in your basket! I think once in your basket the item is secured and you should be given 15 minutes to purchase it other wise it gets removed!

Wreck do you think you could alert us when this might happen when Mars Attacks and Beetlejuice come out...I'm guessing there will be a few cancellations of those.

Just wondering.

So are they saying that they kept 5% back to cover damaged returns? Or are they saying that they printed an extra 5%? Ie, instead of 2,000 units of There Will Be Blood, there's actually 2,100?

I understand that there are always damages and unhappy customers who return items (a small percentage, less than 100 I would imagine), but I would have thought that printing 5% more than the limited number stated goes against trading practices - after all, these are being touted as being limited to 1,000 / 2,000 / 2,500 etc, so the customers should be reassured that this is indeed the case! If they're printing an extra 5%, then what's stopping them from printing 4,000 copies and advertising them as limited to 1,000 just to gain interest and drive sales?

All the more reason why such things should be laser-etched with print numbers. I can't see why limited releases aren't, especially when the technology is there and under-used

Wreck mentioned the answer to your qty question in the OP, fyi.

Ok, folks looks like this may happen next week sometime, but if the timeline changes we will post. Thanks all!
