Title: Untitled Alien Project

Genre: Science Fiction, Horror

Director: Fede Álvarez

Plot: A standalone story in the Alien universe, unconnected to the previous films.

Just saw it in the theater. I really enjoyed it, even as someone who usually hates horror films (particularily because of jump scares, which this film has quite a few of).
It's not the best film ever, but yeah...in comparison to some of the slob that's out there nowadays it was a good movie and an entertaining experience.

One element was embarracingly bad though, and people will know what it was immediately when they see it.
I really don't get why they had to include the Ian Holm android (or another version of him), especially because it looks so horrible and fake here - like, is the current technology really that bad?? I don't know what the studios are thinking with these CGI characters... The whole film looks beautiful and real, and this single element just throws you out of the film completely, such a damn shame.

The ending in particular was pretty disgusting too, I was surprised by the 16 rating where I live after seeing that
You could actually feel the whole theater being freaked the f. out during that particular scene.

I honestly wouldn't mind if they made more of these if this does well at the box office.

Going to see this Sunday night in imax! I can’t f**king wait. Can’t even remember the last time I see a film In imax. Possibly Jurassic world

I get to see this tonight in ScreenX format. The nearest IMAX is Crawley for me, involving 40 minutes of travel each way (if lucky.) I saw Jaws there in IMAX and that was amazing. Hope you enjoy it too

Oh fair enough. Going Bas Vegas to watch it which is about a 10/15 min drive from where I live. I have a local cinema near me but it’s just standard (semi sh!tty) screens.

If you’re lucky, you can hear the louder films through the walls

Loved it! Thought they could have edited some of the more fan servicing nostalgia moments cuz the movie was totally fine without them. Scary, fun, interesting characters and simple story that draws you in, and many surprising but welcome emotional/tender moments. Loved that many sequences really took their time while also featuring breathless action and suspense scenes.
Probably the first blockbuster I really fully enjoyed this summer. Had a blast in IMAX!

I just came back from a 2nd viewing at the theaters (9PM slot), and my opinion hasnt changed.
Absolute best movie of the year for me, when I first watched it on Thursday I went in with medium expectations, though I figured since it's Fede Alvarez it's gonna be brutal.
Some serious 'Alien Isolation' vibes throughout the movie, hope it does really well in the box office I would love to see more of this!
The film exceeded my expectations, first time since 2015 Mad Max Fury Road that I instantly knew it was a masterpiece

Just been to see this. Thought it was really good! Well worth checking out in Dolby though, as the sound for this film was tremendous, score included. It is the star of the show for me. Has to be up for best sound of the year. Definitely one for both horror fans and sci-fi fans imo.

I heard Ridley Scott was the reason this wasn't longer. It is edited superby though so maybe it was beneficial. Relentless and nerves shredded by the end. Definitely the best Alien movie since the first two.

Man what a year for cinema!

I've just got out but instant reaction is the final act drops my rating for the film down. Just don't think they had to go there

Yeah it kinda felt made for shock purposes only, but I liked the idea, especially the connection to Prometheus. On the other hand I f'ing hated that final jump scare when she's hanging on to the rope and the thing suddenly comes out of the ice rain, that moment just felt like a cheap attempt at squeezing one last quick scare out of the audience.

Just checked IMDB and the film is averaging a 7.5 which feels right. Up till the final act I'd of given it an 8/10 which is much better than I expected the film would be

Definitely see a lot more repeat viewings with this compared to Prometheus and Covenant which I think I've only ever watched the once

F**k me this was awesome. Loved it from start to finish. Alien and Prometheus are very special to me so to see it’s directly set after the original and to have the Prometheus links for me was brilliant.

The visuals and the practical effects are stunning and the music too from the original films and Prometheus. The opening shot with all the 70s style computers/ lights and sounds absolutely warmed my heart. And that continued throughout the film. It made me feel safe lol (Alien is a comfort film for me)

Heard a few things online where they said there’s a really dodgy bit (I think I can guess but it didn’t phase me) and that the ending is savage but I didn’t find it savage at all. Is it the actual birth part people don’t like? Defo felt like a mix of the first two films and the alien isolation game. With the ending feeling like it paid a bit of tribute to resurrection.

I’m guessing the Ian holm ash part is the part some didn’t like whereas for me it was perfect and hilarious he’s still causing absolute chaos. The company c*nt. plus I can’t moan about the CGI when the edit of him as a fake head to a real head and then back to a fake one is just as bad in the original. I loved the Prometheus links too which I wasn’t expecting, the second I see the black goo I gasped. And that wonky engineer style giant baby with the creepy smile was absolutely awesome. Proper resurrection style

Also we’ve never seen the aliens grow. I’ve always wondered how it happens so fast so to see that they also cocoon to grow again was a nice touch to show on screen

Also got this they were giving out

Nice where'd you go? I've got LIMITLESS so only tend to do ODEON
Cineworld IMAX

Rarely go to those cinemas now but a few mates wanted to see it in the best way possible. They had Borderland prints too but wasn’t interested.

Just got back from it. So fun to see them capture the 70s/80s sci-fi vibe, even if the story is basically the Force Awakens of the Alien franchise. Some wonderful setups, especially the gravity hallway and the elevator. Like many, I would have preferred not to have
the Ian Holm android
be such a big part of the story. Franchises are really out of ideas for antagonists—the "somehow" returns of villains in Rise of Skywalker, the Avatar sequel... We need new stories.

I don't know Prometheus at all (I saw it once, but it left no impression), so maybe I'm missing something about the final creature she has to dispatch, but the guys I was with and I couldn't help giggling anytime it was on screen, it looks so ridiculous. Kind of spoiled the effect the film was going for. I thought it would have been better to have that creature confront a classic xeno, like they wouldn't recognize or accept each other, which would hint at an inevitable conflict coming.

It didn’t seem right but I was gonna go with it.
This isn't Clerks in Space, :spoil: although...

Nah, we don't need anymore AvP creature on creature 'porn', it always turns into a Transformers CGI mess.

Yeah I thought it might be. Cineworld mostly always do better merch, like the popcorn buckets etc. I can't remember the last poster I got from ODEON. I'm too much a fan of their LUXE recliners to go elsewhere though.
