Hey guys! Wanted to share this with my fellow US & Canada members.

I suppose some of our European members can benefit from this as well.

I think this is very news worthy for all us steelbook collectors, so it deserves it's own thread for now. :scat:

I just got an order in from amazon.de and I was very surprised at the SIZE
of the box that appeared, just for 6 steelbooks. Well, it appears that for any
NEW release, that they haven't packaged up yet or a catalog release that might be on backorder (like my order of Judge Dredd was), they have a new box. EEK! :oohyeah:

We all remember that the package had been improved recently to bubble wrap inside a foldover box. :movie:

Well, now there is a new box, frustration free packaging, SPECIFICALLY labeled for steelbooks / metal packaging.

Pics below of the box, before opening and then after I opened it.

I just got an email from Amazon.jp, I have ordered a few steels with different release dates. I believe they were telling me they were going to ship one earlier. I choose shipping grouped all together, does this mean they will they charge me for the shipping twice or is it just the once. Thanks.

Si, another upside is that there will only be one Royal Mail admin fee, so your £8 gets spread between more Steels. :D

Thanks surf, that's good to know!:D

Actually just re-read your post, it's exactly the reverse. You'll now have to pay it twice. If you can I would ***** now if it hasn't been sent otherwise you need to write to CS saying that you know it would have VAT & customs & Admin fee but because of their not following your express instructions you have suffered financially, and expect a credit to your account.

Sorry to get your hopes up :(

Got Pans Labyrinth from amazon.ca delivered on the door with DHL today. This was dispatched on tuesday. That's mighty fast!

But this time it came in a jiffy bag. Luckily it was undamaged.

Only "problem" I have with DHL delivering on my door is that when the missus is home and she was today, she starts blabbering about how I promised to go easy on the steelbooks now before christmas. :hilarious:

If they arrive in the mailbox I usually manage sneak them in without her noticing. :)

I thought when you said that I wasn't sure how they would know its part of one order! I will get on to them now and see if I can sort it out, I don't fancy paying customs twice. Once is bad enough:(
Thanks surf.

Question: I just got a steelbook from amazon.ca, and when I took off the wrapping and removed the J card, there were dents in the back. In other ninjas' experience, am I outta luck because I opened it, or do I have some recourse?

doesn't matter that you opened it, its still damaged goods,
contact customer care, they are brilliant to deal with, they will replace the steelbook no problem if its in stock, you will be given a return address for the damaged steelbook

Thanks for the advice, Flip. I got online, and had the issue resolved, while I waited on hold with Future Shop for the exact same problem. Took about 5 minutes with Amazon, 30 with Future Shop.

Apparently I received a package earlier today (missed delivery) and I have to pay over $40 in customs fees. I am thinking it is my Amazon UK Steelbook order which cost me £85.85 or so, so that amount of customs fees is really crazy. :/
I just checked my Amazon order tracking and it seems they shipped with UPS which is horrible for Canadians in terms of customs and duties to be paid. Why Amazon UK, why?
I am definitely going to tone down my quantities ordered from now on, can't afford this hobby anymore (already broke).

Mate, get a UK Ninja to sort you out next time. I'll happily do it. We all need to help each other out against the evil scumbags AKA customs.

Don't be afraid to ask. ;)

:yeahthat: Who let this guy in? :hilarious:

Anyway, I have a dilemma I could use some advice on. As earlier posted, I received a copy of the Wrestler that was damaged. I contacted Amazon, and they happily (and quickly) sent me a new copy. Only problem? This one had dents as well (albeit much smaller)! They will not send me another one, but will refund the cost of one of the copies. I had originally purchased 2 copies and had thrown one into my "future trade" bin. I'm considering returning the two damaged ones and just keeping the one I had originally kept for trading, but now I'm a little worried that its also going to be dented under the J card. Conversely, I could keep the one with the small dents (even as I write this option, I hate it) and keep the one for trading, hoping that its not dented. I think that in actually writing this out, I've come to a decision, but I still wouldn't mind hearing some opinions. What do you think?

I would keep the one for trading for yourself, the Wrestler isn't a very rare steel so I don't think the trade value will ever be that high. Do you open your steelbooks? i wouldn't worry about what's behind the J-card, no one knows until they open what they are going to find. It all depends how much the one with small dents annoys you, if you are not happy with it send it back.

Yeah, that's kinda what I was thinking too. I do open my steels, but the chance of no dents beats out definite dents any day. Thanks for the advice Sigill!
BTW, now that you took out the spammer, it looks like I'm calling out SteelbookedUp. Ha!

Unfortunatly yes, they can either ask you to pay for your goods upfront or they can send you a letter later.:(
