Hey guys! Wanted to share this with my fellow US & Canada members.

I suppose some of our European members can benefit from this as well.

I think this is very news worthy for all us steelbook collectors, so it deserves it's own thread for now. :scat:

I just got an order in from amazon.de and I was very surprised at the SIZE
of the box that appeared, just for 6 steelbooks. Well, it appears that for any
NEW release, that they haven't packaged up yet or a catalog release that might be on backorder (like my order of Judge Dredd was), they have a new box. EEK! :oohyeah:

We all remember that the package had been improved recently to bubble wrap inside a foldover box. :movie:

Well, now there is a new box, frustration free packaging, SPECIFICALLY labeled for steelbooks / metal packaging.

Pics below of the box, before opening and then after I opened it.

Mine left Castle Donnington, UK yesterday, and it's already arrived and left Philadelphia today!

Hell, at this rate I might have it tomorrow!

In and out of Kentucky. Come on UPS!

[EDIT]
arrived in state last night, but as it's not marked for Saturday delivery (apparently $15 extra) it'll be here Monday. Pretty awesome, UK-US-My hands in 4 days. Not bad.

Ordered F&F 1- 6 Jumbo on amazon.de

So I pre-ordered said steelbook, and they have giving me a delivery date of 31 - 2 January.

But I chose 2 - 3 business days after release date. :wtf:!!!

Is this just an error ?

Got my replacement in today, safely packaged and arrived when they said it would. Thanks Amazon.co.uk

I really like the packaging amazon UK and DE use. Just wish US would get their **** together.

I got a serenity last week from amazon uk and it had a small tear in plastic near where the steel slides in to hold it secure. Is there a chance the packaging made the tear or could it have been where it was stored ???

Just had a 3-SteelBook order from Amazon France arrive. They were all packaged in a bigger box with some of that brown paper for filler. 1 SteelBook was in the Amazon SteelBook box and the other two were laying at the bottom of the box under the smaller box with the paper just sitting on top of them. Amazingly they are all in perfect shape even though the outer box looks like it took a pretty good beating.

Just had a steelbook package arrive from Amazon.uk without the steelbook! How's that for Frustration-Free Packaging :hilarious: So easy to open, it opens itself...

Fortunately, the packing slip was attached so I know it was supposed to be Abe Lincoln Vampire Hunter and Amazon still has it in stock. My replacement order has been created even without proof of the PO Stamp that says it was Delivered without Contents. Can't beat Amazon's Customer Service for the most part.

Quick question for amazon uk users. I just noticed that I ordered 2 separate copies of Halloween steelbook, in separate orders. The first just arrived today, which I will keep, but the 2nd copy that was part of a larger order was shipped by itself on October 29th. If I deny the package, will it automatically ship back to amazon uk to give me credit back? Will this put the remaining items of X-Men 2 and Great Gatsby in jeopardy of being cancelled? Trying to avoid paying shipping to return the 2nd copy of Halloween.

thanks for suggestions and help

JFK UK SteelBook delivered today from Amazon UK in a cardboard envelope. No protection whatsoever... Appears to be mint but why take the risk for damage?

FYI,you can go to any of the amazon sites and click on "help" and then use the option of "chat" and be able to incredibly solve problems with your orders.I have had items replaced on the spot and not even have to return the damaged items. The reps are very helpful. If the site is not in your native language, you can easily go to a site like bing.com/translator and just copy and paste your responses with the rep.

Just received my Pacific Rim 3D Steelbook from Amazon UK. It arrived in great condition surrounded by bubble wrap and then enclosed in a cardboard box. I am really glad to see the addition of the bubble wrap! Thank you Amazon UK.:scat:

Now if only Amazon.ca would follow suit.;)
