Special announcement, April 15 2014
hey guys, official announcement from ES.

Hi,

Thank you for pre-ordering the Anchorman 2 SteelBook with the Entertainment Store.

We have received advanced copies of the product and have noticed that through the manufacturing process there has been a small amount of stretching on the corners of the SteelBook. We have been assured by the manufacturer of the SteelBook, Scanavo, that this is a manufacturing trait associated with the high gloss finished that has been used. Please see link below for an image of the stretching.

Whilst this is a manufacturing trait we do appreciate that for some customers this could potentially be a problem. We are contacting you ahead of shipping the product to highlight this trait to give you the opportunity to change your mind on your order before we ship you the product.

We will of course accept all returns and provide a full refund if you are unsatisfied with the product once your receive it in line with our standard terms and conditions.

Thank you for your custom,

The Entertainment Store

Looks like my first great Anchorman movie steelbook will go unaccompanied by this beauty :(, buying this for £25.99 might enable me to broaden my limitations on pricing so got to draw the line somehow, eh?

Well I find it absolutely incredible that they've sold so many at that price with no particular justification for that price point. I did buy WWZ as it had 3D & it was a bigger & better film so that did go some way toward justifying that price - though that certainly wasn't cheap either.

I've got to draw the line somewhere as I can't afford every steelbook that comes out. It's just a shame for me personally as I would have liked this in my collection, particularly as I have the first film in steelbook and wanted this to go with it. But at £16 more than I paid for the Anchorman one steel it seems that I'm going to be priced out of this one...the first time that's happened on price alone.

If people want to pay this then fair play to them, and it certainly looks like I'm in the minority with my view on this. I just don't understand why the same people that usually wait for a price sweet spot decided that, even at £26, this one was a day one purchase :dunno:

My first point would be that it's not just people on HDN that buy steelbooks, so not necessarily the "same people that usually wait for a price sweet spot decided that, even at £26, this one was a day one purchase" as there are other forums, and the general public of course!

My other point would be to suggest selling the Anchorman 1 steel and buying the US double steel which I think is nicer (although this is nice too) and then you have both films in one steel rather than a steel of the first and (I guess) an amaray of the second?! My US steel was £21 delivered to UK :scat:

I'm happy to see people actually sticking to their guns and NOT buying this regarding the price. I for one don't want to see a trend of future titles being released at these ludicrous prices. Hopefully if enough people fail to buy it, it might just send a message out from the collectors.....

I've said it before and I'll say it again, HMV can produce top quality Steels at a great price. (It's just a pity their choice of movies for those Steels were turkeys!) So it can be done......

And yes, the U.S. Anchorman combo Steelbook seems to be every bit as gorgeous as this. And at that price you'd be crazy not to go for it instead. The finishing on it is amazing for what they are charging. A true bargain.....

Sorry for going off topic, but where can I buy the US Anchorman 2 steelbook? Was it apart of a group buy?

There was a group buy but I think it's closed?! I was lucky that a friendly ninja in the US went to the store on launch day and grabbed me a perfect copy, and shipped with my Hunger Games group buy purchases so got it for a great price! :scat:

I got this steelbook for my anniversary yesterday, its a great looking steelbook and the so called damage is non existent. Its a fantastic looking steelbook glad to have it.

As I suspected with this (and WWZ), they're not sold out, and back up on the website for purchase. 997 available for Anchorman (but in reality probably 2-3x this amount actually in stock due to stock listing restrictions) and 447 available for WWZ.

Is this worth a purchase at £11.99? I liked the first one, but have never seen the second and have been told it's much worse.
