Special announcement, April 15 2014
hey guys, official announcement from ES.

Hi,

Thank you for pre-ordering the Anchorman 2 SteelBook with the Entertainment Store.

We have received advanced copies of the product and have noticed that through the manufacturing process there has been a small amount of stretching on the corners of the SteelBook. We have been assured by the manufacturer of the SteelBook, Scanavo, that this is a manufacturing trait associated with the high gloss finished that has been used. Please see link below for an image of the stretching.

Whilst this is a manufacturing trait we do appreciate that for some customers this could potentially be a problem. We are contacting you ahead of shipping the product to highlight this trait to give you the opportunity to change your mind on your order before we ship you the product.

We will of course accept all returns and provide a full refund if you are unsatisfied with the product once your receive it in line with our standard terms and conditions.

Thank you for your custom,

The Entertainment Store

Excuse me is this a joke? I expected this to be around the £18 - £20 area. You can expect this kind of pricing with extremely limited releases, or the inclusion of a 3D disc. But what does this have? Nothing! Nothiiing! Whether it is the studio or the retailer they are just trying to push the boundaries to see what people are willing to pay. And this will have crossed the line for most. I have all ES Steelbooks so far and was still gonna pre-order this. But that would be feeding the monkey. And really don't want too. Not at this price. This will not stand man, this price hiking will not stand.

So you're the one that ordered 'Bad Grandpa'!! :hilarious:

Why wouldn't it be a UK exclusive in 6 months?? If it's WEA (World exclusive artwork) it would have to be would it not??

Just like ES's WWZ. The artwork is not available on Steelbook anywhere else.

Very true.

I was more comparing it to the comment about Pain and Gain. I actually don't think this will turn up anywhere else as it looks like ES have taken the entire run, as they seemed to do with WWZ. However, WWZ still hasn't sold out and I think that is to do with the price. The same might happen to this where it will be cheaper long after release on the resale market.

To think I pre-ordered Bad Grandpa at £24.99 and swiftly cancelled!

Just a great pity ES offer quality releases at such extortionate prices and yet removing digital copies/DVDs because they know we will vouch for it no matter what. A total mick take if you ask me!

The crazy thing is, I still want it :emb:.

I know it's way over-priced, and it'll set a precedent for outrageous pricing, but let's try to see the silver lining : it's got two Blu-rays (no useless DVD/digital copy), including a new cut released in theaters 2 weeks ago, the crazy good artwork is WEA, it will look fantastic all glossy... and it's Ron Burgundy, come on! This is as expensive as an KimchiDVD steel, sure, but it looks better than some of their recent efforts (*cough* Léon).

I'm a huge fan of the first film, I can't wait to see this one, and I know I'll be annoyed if I don't join the GB for this (it probably won't sell out, but still, I don't want to tempt fate on this one).

Inflation. I told everyone over a year ago this would happen. 4000 is a low print run. Everyone who complains about the price now is going to be in sticker shock once this run sells out.

So far, your predictions about OOS-runs in all of the threads here on HDN haven't really been accurate :giggle:

Anyhow, ridiculous pricing indeed. Will wait for a drop.
