Special announcement, April 15 2014
hey guys, official announcement from ES.

Hi,

Thank you for pre-ordering the Anchorman 2 SteelBook with the Entertainment Store.

We have received advanced copies of the product and have noticed that through the manufacturing process there has been a small amount of stretching on the corners of the SteelBook. We have been assured by the manufacturer of the SteelBook, Scanavo, that this is a manufacturing trait associated with the high gloss finished that has been used. Please see link below for an image of the stretching.

Whilst this is a manufacturing trait we do appreciate that for some customers this could potentially be a problem. We are contacting you ahead of shipping the product to highlight this trait to give you the opportunity to change your mind on your order before we ship you the product.

We will of course accept all returns and provide a full refund if you are unsatisfied with the product once your receive it in line with our standard terms and conditions.

Thank you for your custom,

The Entertainment Store

If it was an Asian release nobody would question spending 26 quid on it.

Firstly Anchorman 2 wasn't as good as the original. Just because it's a steelbook and exclusive doesn't mean people want it. That's the reason Bad Grandpa is still available despite such a low print run.

Also, we know an Asian release would do it right for the price. How much did people spend on World War Z for laser etched numbers and they still got a cheap matte finish?

It looks like ES will be doing it right though, is it a case of Steelbook snobbery?

In this instance, it's a case of not the greatest movie. If this was £19.99 instead of £25.99, then I think more people would be intrigued by it with all those features.

But it's just a lot to ask for this particular movie. As an American, that's the difference of $45 and $35 with tax and before shipping and/or Group Buy fees. Wal-Mart has a pretty cool looking steelbook coming out tomorrow for $29.99 (~£17.99) and it's Anchorman 1 and 2.

Yup, same here cancelled. The U.S. one is looking more and more like a bargain compared to this.

This E.S. one is just too pricey for me at the minute. Hope it falls in price one day.

Nearly always the same steelbook under the fancy "extras"

yes one thing there what about people that bought anchorman 1 from zavvi? would just make that dustbin fodder really and a true waste of money.

me personally i've swallowed my pride on this one and bit the bullet, i would rather have it than not and cannot be bothered for sake of £5.
do i know i'm being poked up the bum with a hot poker yes, can i be bothered no not really.

also one other thing regards bad grandpa they still haven't lowered the price on that yet and i suspect they won't drop it for a while either just seems to be ES goto remember they arent zavvi with yo-yo prices me thinks.

basil

So tempting, but 4000 copies and £26? That is a ridiculous price and Bad Grandpa was also overpriced at 1000 copies. Safe to say, this should stick around until further reduction in price. At least I hope.

I beg to differ on World War Z's 'success'. It's nearly 6 months since it was released, and it's still in stock. Not successful at all for an exclusive. I bet you they hadn't planned on hanging on to it for that long. Similar to Zavvi's non-3D Iron Man 3, and they've only decided to drop the price now. That should have been done months ago.

It would be quite sad if 4000 people bought this mediocre release for £26, in my opinion. It's not the way we want to see steelbooks going. I also question the reasoning behind people's purchasing too - i.e. do they really want it? or are they just filling their shelves with 'exclusives'?

Anyway, even if it does sell out it won't bother me. It certainly won't make me regret not purchasing it. I'll pick up a sealed copy on eBay for £15 a few months down the line.
