i heard that the original negative was destroyed in a fire and the hd transfer was derived from an old dvd source. Still looks fantastic in hd though!! makes you think if the quality could have been even better if it was sourced from the orig neg>??

I could never figure out why Hollywood is so dumb to not have multiple film copies stored in different parts of the U.S. for that very reason. At least the pc world is smart enough to have redundancy.

The same thought crosses my mind each time I hear of a vault fire. :hilarious:

Guys/gals, the rumor is about the original negative, the one and only, since this was captured on film. Prints from that negative are stored in many places. The difference in scanning from the source made from the original negative versus prints is night and day. Best analogy for the digitally inclined is printing pictures from the digital source versus a scan of a paper copy where there is dust and dirt. My guess is that rumor is false and that Michael Bay has the original negative stored somewhere top secret and fire-proof. Every frame of this reproduction on blu-ray is dust and dirt free.

Jesus! Dont know if it was just my copy but i had some of the hardest glue to remove the card from steelbook! Left marks on the matt finish, not to mention a ruined backing card!

Grabbed this while it was cheap, but didn't realise how poor the actual Blu-ray is, with virtually none of the extras from the 2-disc DVD! A shoddy package all round :(
