Scream Factory from Shout Factory are releasing a Collector's Edition of Army Of Darkness

**ARMY OF DARKNESS Update & New Art!**

Alright you Primitive Screwheads, listen up! (Sorry, we couldn’t resist quoting Bruce.) Here’s the first look at the final & approved newly-designed key art for our upcoming blu-ray release of Sam Raimi’s ARMY OF DARKNESS! This solid tribute comes to us from illustrator Paul Shipper (Mad Max, Escape from New York).

Original theatrical poster key art will be on the reverse side of the wrap. Extras and specs for this 2-disc Collector's Edition are in the works and will be announced sometime in Late Aug / Early Sept.

Official street date is 10/27 but if you pre-order it from us directly @ https://www.shoutfactory.com/…/army-of-darkness-collector-s… we'll ship it out two weeks early PLUS include a limited edition free 18" x 24" poster of the new design (while supplies last).

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION FROM SCREAM FACTORY

Even being as detailed as we could here, we anticipate that there are questions you may still have about the cuts of the film. Our Blu-ray producer has provided a couple of Q&As that we felt might come up and that some may be curious about:

Q: Is the U.S. Theatrical version a new transfer?
A: Unfortunately, we were not able to do a new transfer of the theatrical cut (which was
provided by our partners at Universal). However, we did do additional color correction.

Q: Why is the International version a 4K transfer and not the Director's Cut?
A: Our original intention was to do a new 4K scan on the director's cut, so we started with
elements that were available in the MGM vault. Unfortunately, we could not find all of the
additional footage (film and audio) for the 96 minute Director's Cut.

If it's a collectors edition, it'll be just the standard amaray with a slipcase. I'm gonna say now it'll include the US cut and Directors cut, it'll include the TV cut as an extra, include all previous extras with a couple new interviews.

They could surprise and do a limited edition, but I doubt it.

Update
This will now be a 3 Disc Set
No details yet as to the contents but it has been changed from a 2 disc set to a 3 disc set release

The artwork sleeve is reversable with the original art on the back. (Nice touch. They did that with previous releases too. It's nice because you have the choice of the new artwork or the classic artwork).
With three discs it means they could have all three versions (Or is it 4? I forget). That would be cool because that means they would max out the bit rate for each disc. But chances are one disc is just for extras. Worst case scenario is one disc is a redundant DVD...:OMG::OMG:
Does Army of Darkness now have a record for the most versions of any movie released on physical media?!!
It sure feels like it.:wow:

My guess -

Disc 1 - Theatrical cut and extras
Disc 2 - Directors cut and extras
Disc 3 - Possibly International cut & (Most likely just) Extras

I would love to see them include the TV cut, but I don't think they will. It has been confirmed to be 3 BDs though, not 2 BDs and a DVD. I still think the German set will be the superior set....but I hope to be proved wrong :D
