I dont know how long I will do this, or if people have questions ... but I'll check this thread daily in case people have questions about steelbooks etc. I'll try to answer to the best of my ability from what I am allowed to say in some cases or just info you may not have seen me drop before in past threads.

Sorry Wreck, I'm sure this has been asked before, so if it has, please forgive me my friend.

Has the idea of James Bond steelbooks ever been brought up? I know we've been lucky enough to get Goldeneye and Skyfall recently, but I can see films like 'Goldfinger' and 'The Spy Who Loved Me' being extremely popular.

Thanks again for your time.

Hi Wreck, do you know if there's going to be a 3D lenticular steelbook version for Hansel & Gretel, GI Joe 2, and Iron Man 3 anywhere? Thanks in advance!

Hi wreck, i just bought the HMV exclusive captain america steelbook of ebay for £60 new and sealed, ive just noticed it has the HMV card at the bottom as well as the tripple play card at the top, ive not seen them with the card on the bottom before is this a reprint?

Hi Wreck,

Forgive me if I'm going over old groud here, but it's a big thread to read through.

Watched your cave vid . Just wondered how did you got the signed steels. Did you take them along to ComicCon or something?

Just had a look at that, and you're right, none of the Captain America steelbooks had the HMV Exclusive at the bottom. I also don't believe there's been any reprint. Entertainment Store recently found the last of the Captain America's that Paramount had and they of course had no HMV branding, and sold out quickly.

It looks to me like the card that has HMV exclusive is outside the seal, and has been taken from another HMV steelbook, just for the photograph. Either way, if it's a genuine HMV Captain America, and it definitely looks like it then you got a good deal for £60 sealed

I just had a closer look at the picture and your right, its the hmv steelbook and the card does look like they have just put it on the front outside the seal for some reason, maybe just to show its hmv, but it did throw me for a while, i thought maybe it was one of the entertainment store ones. Oh well looks like i might have a bargain, i bet i cant get a sealed hmv thor for the same price, :emb:)

I've only read up to page 12 so far and haven't found what I'm about to ask so hopefully it hasn't already been covered.

1) The Zavvi exclusives Black Swan, Commando, Independence Day and I Robot were all if I remember correctly once listed as "4000 Copies" I either read that here, Zavvi or both I'm not entirely sure but now there seems to be no mention of the print run.
Do you know if it's because it has increased for these titles, if so to what figure ?

I've recently learned that normally a steelbook release has a minimum of 4000 copies but some have higher amounts, if it doesn't list the quantity here or on the retailers site is it safe to say there's more than 4000 copies produced ?

2) Are the steelbooks listed below all of the ones with Inside artwork chosen by HDN members so far or are there more ?
Terminator, Withnail and I, The Wicker Man, Kill Bill and Beverly Hills Cop

I appreciate you may not be able to fully comment on the first part of question one, thanks in advance.

First off, congrats Wreck. Although with the newborn, go with the crackle steel for him. You already stated you like that method the most.

OK, down to past and future question(s).
1. Any update on Zavvi not shipping internationally?

2. If TV series start being released, are they talking about adding plastic flips to accommodate more than 3-4 discs to keep it from being bumped up to Jumbo?

3. Any chance that Disney will release empties for the Diamond Editions that did not get steel treatment. Off hand I remember Peter Pan and with Aladdin & Little Mermaid coming out his year, they should get them. Disney always sells well, so not sure why they are hesitant.

4. Just to add from #3. If Disney are so sought after, any way you can talk to your contacts about letting Amazon sell them. Everyone loves Amazon and is easiest to ship & order properly all the time.

Hi Wreck, is there any reason why Universal have stopped releasing Steelbooks in the UK? I can't recall a single title so far this year. Do you know of any titles being planned later in the year or have they really given up releasing Steelbooks here?

sadly even when some titles are only 4k people (retailers) dont market it as such. So you cant just assume if it doesnt say 4k that its more.

You are correct about those chosen by HDN. I plan to have a special spot in my collection of all the steels chosen by us all.

All those titles to my recollection that you stated are 4k (zavvi fox)

1) think its mostly just rumor ; month or so ago I asked and they hadnt heard of this. So unless somethign has changed and I'm not hip to it?

2) TV titles are hard as they usually keep same amount of discs from the amarays and ofcourse that typically means jumbo. But I know people are pushing for TV titles (uk) so its not out of the question of us seeing them. Nothing concrete yet tho.

3) Disney empties in the US? they may follow that if we get steel from them. gotta get through that first. I'm tight lippedd right now tho in regards to NA. Future extremely bright tho for USA, finally. Expect some announcements soon (not disney)

There's more coming. :D

1) I'll see about the first 2 .... on the third, zavvi may o may not have the artwork up on Taxi Driver but I posted it in the taxi driver thread ... probably buried now. whoops.

2) Yeah i need to check on that in regards to that one liner on the cover i presume you mean ... as I made mention of portman cut off and last I checked they fixed the inside in that regard.

Yes that's what I meant (sorry I deleted my post as I wanted to make an amendment). I also meant to ask about artwork for The Wicker Man. I just checked the Taxi Driver thread and yes artwork is there, thanks.

Hi Wreck, any chance you can nag Zavvi until they change their website product listings to reflect inactive preorders? With all of yesterday's announcements, I think it is driving many insane with the constant 'sold out' comments.

Hey Wreck, can you tell us more on how the 1st hdn exclusive got made ?
Did you buy leftover stock from Zavvi, send it to some company to get it repackaged with the hdn J card, or is this a separate print run ?

Just curious, but I understand it if you can't disclose to much details

I agree, the threads are plagued by 'sold out' comments. Not just that, but some members end up being confused, especially for buyers who are unaware of Zavvi's practices (when listing items).

2) There is a feature you guys haven't seen yet ; (that I have) but again I can't say. It would be a game-changer ... so I hope it sees the light of day. :) It's a testament to the innovation that Scanavo/SteelBook(TM) bring to the table and the quality they bring with their products.

Have any SteelBooks been released with the glow-in-the-dark finish yet?

The obvious release to use this with would, of course, be the Alien films, although it would also be put to good use for Tim Burton's "9" (2009)

I second this. Zavvi should have a separate graphic for items that have been added to the site awaiting to go live for pre-order, as the "Sold Out" button only confuses many people who aren't aware that these are newly added and not actually sold out
