Nope, I cancel because they will be using the old avatar packaging. Just added a flash card for it.

Maybe what they meant is the same artwork as the previous release (which is iron pack) but its a steelbook. As they can't use iron pack anymore right? Although they have them in stocks.

I get you...

It's this + a lenti card as the front

Avatar: Limited Steelbook Edition (DTS-HD)(Blu-ray+DVD)

I believe this is just like the last avatar taiwan release that looks like the second picture on there website. The first picture looks like the MM release. Thats the one most people were anticipating.

The first picture is the full slipcover with the same 3D lenticular stick-on as the US slipcover. The second picture, as Alex said, is an example of the artwork for the actual tin case which they have confirmed to be an ironpack. I am not sure how they can do this legally. But it would be easy for them to insert the 3D Blu-ray disc along with the 2D BR and DVD discs into left-over ironpacks, reseal and package with the slipcover. Personally I am keeping my order out of curiosity.

Got the same email too but I'm confused and kinda looking forward to see some real pictures of it before I make any decision, it could be anything ;)

I have received an UPDATE from JSDVD via email:

Notice:

Dear Customer,
The Deltamac company told us, the Avatar: 3D/2D edition is existing Avatar steelbook (4710756425380) with new flash card.
We will take the photograph after its release.
Please let us know if you need replace items or cancel order.
Sorry for any inconvenience, and appreciate your understanding and patience.

Best Regards

Yeah thats what i was saying but what i dont understand is in the second picture it has a partial slip on the bottom so why would they post the first picture which is making most think that it will come with a full slipcover of the image that is used for the MM release or is it used for a 3d armaray?

I don't think there is a separate amaray case. The second picture was posted to show the artwork of the ironpack. That partial slip will most likely be removed if indeed they are re-using the same ironpack.

Even if it's the previous iron pack with a new '3D edition' slip over it, how come people are losing interest? It's the slip that most buy the Taiwanese releases for anyway, so as long as the slip is all new, that would make it different enough to still be worth having, no?

Or am I missing something...?

The email I received from jsdvd mentioned they will be using the item number stated (which is a iron pack), slip in a 3d disc and a flash card. That's it.

What I understand is that, they will be re-use the left over iron pack they had for this release.

But then, what I hope is that they only use the same artwork for that iron pack but its a steelbook or vmb with flash card.

JSDVD needs to get the photos now and not after it's release as it's not clear to us the customers what we are purchasing EEK!

We will take the photograph after its release.

I for one do not want to guess or hope or be too late to cancel :ohno:

the problem of using left over iron packs is the fact that with the initial releases,it was very difficult having one without having any scratches.these were prone to having actually so many scratches. i literally went thru 15 or so copies and wasn't able to get one with even a minimal amount of scratches.because of this,i dont even own a copy and if you're talking about something thats been around a couple of years or so,then handled and repackaged, these will be a lot worse in shape.i received the same notation that everyone's gotten and was told that they would take some photos once released.if these are indeed the same exact ones from before...i'm going to have to pass.im still having my fingers crossed since there is an existing metal case out there for the 3d release which is the german steelbook.a re-release ironpack with the same exact design with inevitable blemishes is no comparison to a NEW RELEASED design metal case.come to think of it,reusing an old metal case and just switching the disc inside is a new low specially with a premium title as Avatar.

not looking good.just checked out another taiwanese website and if you scroll down, seeing the illustration and reading the "bold and highlighted" notation, it seems that it is the old iron pack release....sad so sad...

That's why in jsdvd email, they stated clearly that its the decision of the distributor "Deltamac". This is really a let down if they are re-using the iron pack.
With their recent lost of distribution in china, this will be another big blow in their face. Hope they would loose Taiwan distribution as well if they really doing this.

You're not missing anything...There are some hardcore sellers/collectors who order 1+ of these releases and are disappointed by a rehashed release. These people will be cancelling.

An old obsolete metal with new wrapping let's say.

So i'm guessing everybody or the majority are canceling?

I can't see how it could ever be too late to cancel when they won't ship without separate payment for shipping? (If it's JSDVD that is.)

I think it's entirely reasonable for them to wait for customers to see pictures before expecting a final decision.

Me too - quality was not good! Though if left sealed they weren't quite as apparent.

If thats the case i'm cancelling.

Well I guess if these are left over ironpacks then this thread will be moved to the ironpack section. I really think there is too much confusing with this. Actual pics are going to clear this all up I hope. We will need pics of this unsealed to confirm
