Just got back from seeing this in IMAX.

- Got an extended preview for The Odyssey. Looks amazing.
- Got the Avengers Doomsday Teaser 1... Would have been exciting if it hadn't already leaked / spoiled.
- Sadly No Spider-man trailer though. :( Did anyone get it in theirs?

Movie itself was good, spectacular visuals and set pieces...
But felt very familiar. Almost like a mash-up of the first two together. There are some scenes that almost feel like a beat for beat rehash of what we've seen before.
I still enjoyed it, but if they make more they are going to have to do something drastically different because its starting to feel repetitive.

Very much how I felt. I also thought it could have been 40 mins shorter. The visual wonder of the world of Pandora alone isn’t enough for me especially 3 films in. With some beat to beat rehashes and predictable story beats I found myself checking my watch multiple times throughout the film. I would recommend waiting to watch this on streaming/FX.

Really enjoyed this one, yes it's cheesy, yes it's kind of a rehash of the first two. But it's just great spectacle holiday-blockbuster filmmaking, Cameron is just a master at this.

The only thing I have a serious problem about is the ending. Cameron clearly said that this film is a definitive ending to those three films and that everything has worked towards this point....and of course I believed him and this obvious marketing b.s. This story is far from over and nothing really get's resolved by the end, it's just another chapter in this fight and Cameron literally said that it's not that but an ending. Him basically lying about this has me worried that they will keep making these films in a way where there's always room for a sequel, always loose ends, and that really bothers me as a fan of storytelling. Now Cameron says that he wants to do other films other than Avatar, which is understandable, but has to also be taken with a grain of salt, probably another marketing statement to pull people into the theater so he'll make more. I believe he said years ago that they already shot the beginning of 4 because there will be a huge time jump at 'page 30' or something where the actors have to age 8 years I believe, the story will apparently also take partly place on earth.

We'll see. I hope Cameron has the stamina to actually bring this story to an end at some point.

Oh also: Cameron has stated a few months back that the film would open with a statement that no generative AI was used in the film. There was no such statement at my screening, so what was this all about? I don't know, I feel like Cameron is really saying a lot of things that aren't true

Just saw this, agree with the above that there's bits that are a bit of a rehash from the previous films and without them could have cut about an hour off of the run time which you feel every bit of the 3+ hours but I still found this a very good film

Visually it's the best looking film ever, Varang was a badass villain and would have liked to have seen even more of her, all hits no misses with these Avatar films 8/10
