Most of the Asian releases I have been getting for that price point are premium editions with Lenticulars or full slips with extra goodies as well as being Individually Numbered. Big difference.
Sorry but you are only partially correct. Check the pricing of the standard 3D Steelbook editions and show me titles like Avengers priced under £23.5.

99% of the Asian Steels cost me at least £27. Some are premium ones but most of them are not.

Regarding value, Marvels Steels like GotG, Thor, CA, Thor 2 etc. are still selling for silly money even without the goodies.

The pricing for the non-exclusives is a joke.

You just moved the goalpost. You never mentioned 3D in your post. Now your asking me to show you titles like Avengers. That is not your original argument. BTW I just got a few 3d premium versions from Kimchi and Nova for less than $42.

Most of the Asian Steels even the regular releases are priced $38 to $42 before shipping and there seems to be no complaints about the pricing

My gripe with Zavvi is that I seem to get about 30 to 40 percent with damage, be it scratches, dents, dings or huge imprints. Then when you contact customer service they never want to replace it. They argue the damage is minimal, then offer 15% then after fighting they replace it but sometimes they want the damaged one I sent photos of back which costs me $20 to send back. Now i'm spending 50 to 70 dollars on a mediocre steel. The last 6 I have received, Gone Baby Gone, Training Day, Pinocchio, Drag me to Hell and Clerks all have significant scratches and dings. If I lived in the UK i wouldn't mind as much since it's easier and cheaper to return, but at this point I have about 600 steels, I'm trying to hold out for only the premiums now unless it's a movie I really want but there is no point since every steelbook will be re released in every country eventually. The market has become way too saturated and collecting has become much less fun for me now.

I bet they sell much more between now and the time it is released than what sold today. You are in denial if you think they didn't hold back the majority of the stock. Its a great strategy that they have done over and over.
Why would they hold back stock if they could just keep it open for another day and then "turn it off" or whatever the conspiracy theorists think is happening.
Why only leave it open for two hours? Even four hours would've sold more copies. I'm by no means a zavvi apologist, I've cancelled my fair share of orders due to some if their practices, but I think it's just a matter of them selling out because people make multiple orders which they end up canceling or customers cancel themselves due to one thing out another.
We've been taught to place an order just in case it sells out and cancel later which is what a lot of people do nowadays. Especially if they're buying multiples hoping to cash in.
I don't think there's a big conspiracy to these things. It could be my naivete, but that's just how I feel.

NOOOOOOOO I MISSED THIS ASWELL

Jesus Chris.....god damn work

I'm slipping on these, I really am

First Big Hero Six now this :(

I wasn't suggesting anything underhand. I know how archaic Zavvi's ordering system is. The way I see it working is like this (all quantities are baseless and guess work) :

4k print run
2k pre allocated for Zbox bundle
Remaining 2k for standard pre orders, and all gone
Of that 2k, maybe 1k are customer cancellations already due to messing about with discount codes
Zavvi's system is old as **** and not live, so any cancellations are not put immediately back into allocation, instead added to a 'pot'
The rest of the cancellations, either over orders cancelled by Zavvi or customer cancellations down the line, will be added to the previous pot
The pot will go back on pre order about a week before release

That makes sense in my head but it's difficult to write down. Essentially I wasn't implying that Zavvi are holding back pre orders to raise hype. They might be, I dunno, but I wasn't saying that.
This is how I feel, too. I'd imagine the print run is a lot higher, but as you say we'd both be just totally guessing at that.

Its not foolish what so ever. They will get more business because they can sell at times around other releases and gain more subs. They will sell every copy no matter what they do at what ever price they want. Its leverage and will attract more shoppers to their store when the Avengers 2 steelbook goes on sale. This is a marvel steelbook, not Rambo III.

Hey I love Rambo III lol!

Hard to know what a going on,with a lot of disney releases, iv received emails saying there are x amount left. But yet months after release they are still in stock. But yet they come back into stock and stay, or like GOTG they remain oos, apart from a few that get cancelled.

Was on the fence about double dipping but seems they are oos, unless you buy the zbox too.

How can they oversell something that is open ended?

He's assuming it's an open edition which it could very well be. But if it's not, then it's possible to oversell. Everyone here is just guessing at this point.

Forgive me for being a bit stupid here but what do you mean by open ended and open edition?
Cheers
