I guess on one hand, that's bad, since people were hoping to receive this in the UK by the 6th. On the other hand, at least Zavvi didn't spring the new date on people without telling them and start charging them without knowing. At least this gives people a chance to cancel unlike some of the other times they have just started charging people with warning.

to me, april 1 is april 1 all day til 23:59. i ain't never heard nothin about this midday mumbo jumbo. lol :joy:

Paul's right. I
It is tradition going way back in the mists of time, before your country existed I'm afraid.

As for this release . . .

A lot of fuss and nosense for a catalogue title that's been renamed and had a lenticular stuck on the front - it's not as though there haven't been more than adequate releases prior to this - AND with the correct title!

Its not going to be Shipped Good Friday or Easter Monday
As Royal Mail and other Post Services are closed in the UK no collections or deliveries on Friday and Monday

Its possible Saturday it could be shipped but its more likely to be on Tuesday 7th April or Wednesday 8th
Problem with release dates on a Monday in the UK is when that date is a Bank Holiday/Public Holiday the release is usually the day after at the earliest

With Easter in the UK you have 2 Bank Holiday/Public Holidays on the Friday and Monday so unless stock arrives to ship early before Friday you wont have shipping done till after the bank holiday's

If the stock is already at the warehouse you should see shipping on the Tue/Wed

Renamed? this does have the correct Title its a UK release and has ALWAYS been called avengers assemble.

Just because some bright spark thought it it a great idea to rename it for a Uk release does not make it the correct title. The correct title is 'Marvel's the Avengers' - as per US, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Taiwan et al.

Furthermore, the only reason the title was changed was to avoid UK audiences getting the thing mixed up with The Avengers a la John Steed and Emma Peel - not that that was ever really likely when it contains characters called Iron Man and Captain America; thought it might be ite interesting to see those two come up against Emma Peel in full flight, or Steed doing his thing with the reinforced bowler, etc :)

Im probably in the minority here but I personally prefer the UK title to the worldwide title, the whole film is about the avengers assembling after all, to be honest I never really understood why they had to change the name as like you said its not like anyone will get confused between the 2 films

I have to say because I'm used to the title it really don't bother me. I remember before it was released I was annoyed it wasn't called "the avengers" but It really don't bother me anymore. And like @Kashby had just mentioned it is about them assembling together and working as a team.
I'd persoanlly never get the two films confused but understand why they had to change it.

Where in the World has there been any steelbook release with The Avengers printed on the spine?

All the releases I know about looked like the HMV edition with pictures on the spine, and the US never got a steelbook. AFAIK only the forthcoming Novamedia version will have the correct (US) title.

Yes you're quite right,, of course - it IS about them assembling, but I've always found it ridiculous and quite annoying that they changed the title.

It just grates on me.

Starling, when you make a humorous comment like that :naughty:, you're supposed to say 'I'll get my coat' :)
