Doesn't HMV have huge production numbers for their stock? like 15k or something? how the hell could this go out of stock when play's 4k steels (apart from IM) last for months before going OOS?

u b trollin ;)

I don't think that they produce that many. You could easily say the same thing about Drive, Thor, Captain America etc.

something like that going by what i've read here :D maybe 10k then. But to be fair, we'll never know for sure until exclusives from these sites get official production numbers in their online listings.

...hell, even each steel with a individually printed number like in other collectable markets

Probably not - they're gonna milk this one for all it's worth - what is it up to now in Box Office numbers? Something like 5th biggest of all time?

Studios are all about the re-releases.

Look at Avatar. Had a regular edition steelbook in the UK. Then an extended version was released later (and had a different steelbook in other countries).

Or Lord of the Rings...plenty of examples out there.

If they release a Director's Cut as a separate Steelbook, I'm in for that one too. I bought both the theatrical cut and the extended cut of Avatar in 2 separate Steels, so how can I do any less with The Avengers? :D:D

I guess you're right, we'll never know. I would be suprised if it was as low as 4k, but you never know. HMV exclusives aren't hoarded by rip-off merchants like Play.com exclusives which could account for many of them selling out so quickly. I would guess that HMV exclusives are anywhere between 4k and 10k, depending on the title. You would imagine that a title like The Avengers would get a large run whereas a title like Rampart would get a relatively small one.

I would think this one would get at least a run of 10k+. I mean apparently the Metropolis steelbook got 10k and it's not even a popular movie.

I have to say, I am kind of disappointed that this is only a single disc version. However, it seems that all the multi-disc versions end up being at least $50 USD before shipping so that makes it a little easier to deal with.

I wish the HMV website would give more info on their products. Surely they at least know how many discs they're including in a movies release before they can put an RRP on it? (Which makes me think this is a single disc release because of the low price)

Also, if their Steelbook is going to have 'Avengers Assemble' on it instead of just 'Avengers' like the German release, I think I'll be cancelling. :(

According to Sainbury's, they've got the exclusive on the 90 min documentary.

I really hate this crap. It's getting like games, where studios ***** around as many exclusive versions as they can, all with different content. A limited edition like a steelbook shouldn't be missing anything.

The title as well as age logos should all be on the J-Card. This should just be a clean 'A'. Only the Futureshop and Taiwan releases have the title on the steel.
