Because 75% of sales is DVDs, and UHD is only 5%, 10 in the best weeks.
Yeah but the die hard collectors who go out of their way to buy steelbooks are probably not buying dvds right. I mean how many people on here even bother with standard bluray. Only on rare circumstances do I buy anything other than 4k now. If there is a really good deal like when I got all the Xmen movies on lenti steelbook for like 9 quid each. I know I could just disc swap in the future eventually. Honestly it baffles me that people still buy dvd cos at this point streaming has more than overtaken dvd.

Hell, gun to my head I don't know if I could confidently always tell the difference between 4k stream and 4k.

I buy DVDs, most recently just a month ago, when I discovered France had released all episodes of a neo-noir anthology TV series Fallen Angels from the 90's.

There is over a million active users on Netflix DVD rental subscription service, that's due to be closed this fall.
Lots of people didn't upgrade or think DVD looks good enough. And not complacent enough to be fed only what's on streaming.

I couldn't tell the difference between a Blu-ray and a 720p 4gb pirate file on a 32" telly.
Now I can't watch these old rips, upgrading them, if I like the movie enough.
I think the bigger the screen, the more you notice.

I bought frasier box set on dvd a few weeks back. But those old 90s tv shows don't look great on bluray. Most of them were shot on tape. But it is very much an exception.

With some shows DVD is the way to go, especially if they try changing the aspec ratio from 4:3 to 16:9 as well..

The HD version of Buffy has shots with the crew just hanging out at the sides.

This isn't exactly a title that's being marketed to collectors though or to people that will necessarily have 4K players, not to say that collectors won't be interested. But a huge part of the viewership for Barbie will be from a casual market, and not all of those will care for stuff like steelbooks, but I'd wager a fair few will be interested as they'd be a different type of collector and will be interested in merch just from this movie.

But the none collectors who don't care about 4k probably won't be dropping £25 on a steelbook. They are the type of people who get the cheapest version. It makes literally no sense to release a none 4k Steelbook of something in 2023. At least the option of 4k steel or 1080...

Buffy is just bad full stop and with Disney having the rights you can guarantee it'll never get a another physical release with a new master.
Friends & That 70's Show are as old and older and look way better because the studio actually bothered.
Barbie isn't gonna get a 4k release because it's target audience can't even tell the difference between DVD & Blu-ray let alone 4K

Weet? With a WB release? Nah. It'll be manta or FAC, if anyone.
Looks like you dont understand the word hope lol.. I was just wishing for it, nothing else
Dont want it picked up by Manta atm, with their lacking FS quality
FAC could be nice too, but they always using the crappy canvas paper on the releases I want from them, not the good ol' velvet one

I do lol but it's kinda fruitless hoping for something that isn't likely to happen, from a company without a WB contract. Premium, possible. From WeET, less so.

Idk, I've got a few nice manta FS'. They really do fluctuate in quality, across all their slips tbh, agree. Saying that WeET's cookiecutter style can be a bit hit and miss too.
