I know it 'says' region b, but that doesnt mean it 'is' region b. I've bought several steels from zavvi that are 20th century fox that claim they are region b yet they are region free!! A couple that come to mind at The Omen and The Fly. I'm sure there were others.

But like Geek Tragedy states, if it's 'truly' region b, you can find a blu ray in amray pretty cheap so just swap it out!
The Original 1966 Movie Blu-ray
The FOX UK Blu-ray release is Region B locked I tested it in a Region A Blu-ray player

Blu-ray Extras
Audio Commentary by Actors Adam West and Burt Ward
Audio Commentary by Screenwriter Lorenzo Semple Jr.

Featurette: "Original 2001 Featurette" (SD, 24 minutes) - Created for the film's 25th anniversary, this features older interviews with Ward and West.

Featurette: "The Batmobile Revealed with George Barris" (HD, 6 minutes) - This short subject features Barris giving us a quick video tour of the famed Batmobile, including the make and model it was based on, and some of its little-known automotive abilities.

The Batmobile Interactive Tour (HD) - A nifty extension of the above featurette. Use your remote to take a complete 360-degree, full HD tour of the Batmobile. Click on different parts, and you can pull up detail on the original car, its capabilities and other trivia.

Still Galleries (HD) - Six galleries are included ("From the Vaults of Adam West," "Interactive Pressbook," "Posters," "Production Stills," "Behind the Scenes," "Premiere")

Theatrical Trailers (HD) - Wrapping up this impressive set are three ultra-campy trailers (two in English, one in Spanish), all in full high-def video.

Batman on Location: Mapping the Movie - This neat little feature runs the length of the movie. When content is available, an interactive map will appear that you can click on. This will bring up various factoids, still photos and other directions/text about the characters, costumes, vehicles and other elements of 'The Movie.' Though much of this stuff is just repurposed content from the other extras, it makes nice use of the Blu-ray format's BD-Java capabilities.

Featurette: "Batman: A Dynamic Legacy" (HD, 28 minutes) - Less a making-of about 'The Movie,' this examines the legacy of the original television series, with only a brief segment on the big-screen adventure. But it's fun watching West and Ward, plus a host of VH-1 "I Love the '60s" types (comic book artists etc.) discussing the show and the fans.

Featurette: "Gotham City's Most Wanted" (HD, 16 minutes) - This rundown of the villains of 'Batman: The Movie' is a treat. Though unfortunately there are no recent interviews with the late Burgess Meredith and Cesar Romero, etc., we do get some cool archival footage shot during production, and more commentary from West, Ward and some supporting historians/industry figures.

Featurette: "Caped Crusaders: A Heroes Tribute" (HD, 12 minutes) - This look at the bright and colorful costumes of 'Batman: The Movie' is also entertaining. More rare archival footage of camera tests and wardrobe fittings is also a treat.

The FOX USA Blu-ray release is also Region A locked
Note Exclusive to the USA Blu-ray
The USA Blu-ray has Isolated Score - Nelson Riddles' score isolated in DTS-HD Lossless Master Audio 5.1 Surround.Au

The '66 Batman show, and Batman in general has never been more popular.

Fans have been waiting 50 years to own the show on a home video format, and the toys are selling well (especially '66 versions of the Batmobile) so it's no surprise to see the movie get the steelbook treatment.

Besides, nearly every film ever has a steelbook these days. Of recent announcements, you can't tell me that Jurassic Park III is worthy of a steelbook. It's getting one because the first 2 are, and the 4th one will. Is Taken 3 really worthy? What about The Gambler? Hands up, who's going to order 50 shades of Grey when it gets announced? You know it will, even with it's 33% score on IMDB.

Try burning a fatty and watching this and you might really dig it.

Ordered 2 :)

Its a well known fact you can't say anything on HDN without someone 'correcting' you :)

That's not quite true ;)

I'm not surprised it's sold out (although I feel it'll be back like many other titles), because although the artwork is bad, it's the '66 Batman movie and it has its fans. There's unlikely to be another steelbook any time soon, so it's not like you'll have much choice in the design. Even if it does crop up elsewhere, knowing Fox the art will be the same.

I'm disappointed with the design, but I ordered it anyway as I'm a huge '66 Batman fan. I have the current Blu-ray boxset, a whole load of the toys (from the Neca Batman to Barbie '66 Catwoman to the Funko Bobbleheads and Mattel figures), let alone pretty much every version of the '66 Batmobile (from the old Corgi car to the various Hotwheels versions and the Eaglemoss partwork edition). I even had the Batmobile as my wedding car.

Sure, it's not the artwork I would have chosen, but it's that or nothing.

Batman TV Show is still very popular worldwide
The rights to the Movie belong to 20th Century Fox
The TV series Fox got Greenway Productions and ABC to produce and broadcast the TV series
The Movie was released prior to the start of Season Two of the television series

If your into extras on Blu-ray releases there is very good extras about the film and the impact of the TV series had on the public during the 60's and its interest it still has today with fans of the Film and TV series

The Artwork yes could have been better and Fox UK could have picked better Artwork but its batman and will always sell

The reason is not from Warner is that the Movie rights of the TV Series Fox kept the rights to the 1966 Movie

I already have the Blu-ray of the 1996 Movie and fully enjoyed it as I did the TV series

Before the Tim Burton/Christopher Nolan Films
Batman TV series was what lots of fans watched in the 60's/70's/80's
It was re broadcast on TV regularly
