People complain when they can't get replacements for damaged steels for new releases, and scream conspiracy when some are kept back and sold on a fortnight later.

I'm personally extremely thankful for the likes of Wreck and Andy who are able and good enough to give us a heads up so we don't miss out. I wouldn't have it any other way.

Would it be better if every retailer was like HMV?!

I think it should be noted that if a member has issues with numbers, returns or whatever, any heat is normally meant for Play.com and their PR people, just as it would be with any other retailer.

Play.com is not HDN and it's staff, right?

Anyway, please watch your language guys. Some ppl here are very sensitive to nasty swear words ;)

No offence meant SaberTooth. I've edited the swear word

But to your point, Play's word is good enough for Wreck, Wreck's word is good enough for me, therefore Play's word is good enough for me ;)

Eh? It appears in stock for not even an hour and that means Play are lying to us about everything? I'm thinking maybe a return or something got booked back into stock

Recently I keep seeing the mods taking heat for passing on bull**** facts, but all I see is people asking how much stock is left and when x will sell out, then accusing the retailer or mod who answers their questions of lying.

I think we need to ease up on the accusations when none of us can be 100% certain of the facts. I assume we all trust Wreck and he is well connected and no mug, so if he passes on info he's going to have checked it out before blindly handing it over to us. So when he says a title is low or nearly out or out of stock I take his word for it. If, like this arvo, it comes back in stock then I assume it is a mistake or return or something. Nothing else.

Just my feelings on it all

I fully appreciate the efforts of Wreck and the rest of the admin team. I don't think you'll find any post of mine criticising anyone here. You're clearly attacking a strawman with your post (when did I say they were 'lying about everything' or even make an accusation?). The point I was trying to make is that we were told that all stock of this title had gone which clearly isn't the case as it has being available multiple times since it 'sold out'. The one that really annoys me though is Transformers. We were told that title would be OOS any day soon nearly three months ago. It is still in stock now.

My post wasn't aimed solely at you snooloui, rather it was an observation of a large number of recent posts regarding stock level information, so my comments aren't quotes of what you said. My aim isn't to get your back up but was to just voice my feelings

Regarding stock, I think we should accept that for a short period after release that a title might re-appear from time to time as the retailer filters though the residual stock. Most will keep a balance to cover returns etc and we can't expect them not to sell them at all after they have all been fulfilled.

Transformers is a weird one. As I don't doubt the info we were provided my assumption would be that perhaps it was selling at a high rate until the scalpers realised it wasn't fetching mega bucks on ebay and they stopped ordering or cancelled orders. As a result the run rate died off to a point that the sales are stagnant. I hardly see anyone talking about it anymore so no hype for new collectors to buy it in a hurry either. Which is a shame as it is a nice looking steelbook. If it isn't selling then it will never go out of stock. I know I haven't bought any since it was released.

That's just my theory for what it's worth bud.

well i....

...hmm that makes things kinda complicated. I'm not really one to put my undying faith in large opaque organizations, like Amazon, Google or even Play, especially when large sums of money are involved :)

btw, I swear all the time, especially when i'm playing my ps3 :hilarious:

All this bickering between one another needs to stop NOW. Be careful what you say and word your post in a neutral manner and the meaning won't be taken out of context and we can all move forward and keep this thread on topic. A bunch of text can easily be misconstrued for something for what it's not so be mindful of what is said.

I don't want to have to come back in here and start deleting post for off-topic subject content. Please remember that there are people that subscribe to these posts for any kind of updates.

Thank you everyone for understanding. :)

Future Shop District 12 Hunger Games comes back into stock for days and everyone is happy

Kimchi suddenly shows stock of a long sold out BB and TDK for half a day and everyone is delighted

Play Battle Royale appears for no more than an hour, most definitely some returns, and they are never to be trusted again :p

Maybe I should quit alerting people to stock levels and when I know there is less than 100 left just order 100 for myself and scalp them all on ebay! Muwhahahahaha  C'mon guys....

In all seriousness, I love you mates from the UK but let's all rejoice on how awesome of steels you guys get because like 1 year ago? 1.5 maybe you had hardly any and FutureShop held the torch. I dont even live in the UK nor have I ever been (but would love to!) and I'm still extremely happy for my brothers (and sisters ;) ) across the pond!

Titles will sell out at Play and people will cancel, or people will return etc. For the most part every title that sells out at pre-order will come back online for a very short period of time around release or shortly there after ... but most often after they disappear quickly. So there's the magic rule of thumb ( tho I thought most were already aware to this practice as its happened for numerous releases already this year) live it, learn it, love it, use it, abuse it, {param} whatever floats your boat. :)

Oh, anyone wanna trade for our regurgitated reprint steels at Best Buy? hehehe. I'll trade you a title that was printed 60k for one of your 4k debossed titles.

Yep, agree with Wreck here.

I think play might have stopped selling some of the recent ''selling fast'' titles a little earlier, maybe when just less than 250 or so left, maybe because of what happened earlier in the year with Iron Man where orders got cancelled as the stock wasn't fully controlled properly.

I just wanted to come out and state - no staff member or moderator at HDN works for Play.com.

Thanks for bringing that up Sabertooth.

Really pissed off at play right now... Apparently my BR and TED steelbooks were returned to play and they issued a refund to me. They never told me why or what happened... When I asked what happened they told me:

"Thank you for your email.

Unfortunately, the orders you had placed were unable to be dispatched to you and we have had to issue you a refund for these orders which should appear on your statement within 3-5 working days. It appears we do have these products in stock at this time, and so if you would still like these products we advise that you place these orders again.

Please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your time & valued custom."

Didn't stand a chance ordering MY RETURNED FOR NO REASON BR STEELBOOK before someone else...

I've just checked all my incoming copies and I'll say 50% are not OCD mint...

Minor infections, mainly raised paint spots EEK!

This is something I raised with Wreck in his "Ask Wreck" thread. I am of the opinion that there are 3 possible explanations.
1) Minute specks of the glue used is being "carried over" onto the front or anywhere for that matter and then the heat used in the heat shrink process is attaching them & hardening.
2) The holes in the shrinkwrap are letting bits of dirt in.
3) Summat amiss in the paint process.

I had a real problem with this pock-marked effect with Watchmen and again my personal take is that the very large crank up in volume is having a detrimental effect sadly.

Having some experience with packaging I can tell you right away that 1) and 2) are highly unlikely.
But I still haven't got my copy, so I couldn't see the imperfections you're refering to.

Happened to me with my Watchmen steels and my recent BR order.
I assume you ordered at least 3 copies and live outside of the UK, maybe in France ?

One copy has your number 1.

The rest have the raised paint spots. Unfortunately, the paint is missing and looks silver on the black surface EEK!

If any member took part in a GB, please except these minor imperfections as the host cannot guarantee perfection...
