Except its poorly done in my opinion.
They just flipped the front image and removed the BIG FISH text / tree. Even the spine is just a cut out section from the front.

Actually I like it, well it looks better than my old mockup that I did ages ago when I was first starting graphics editing.

With artwork directly influenced by one of the few official posters for the film. . . easily the best design too and not difficult to see why it was used here for the steelbook especially when you check out the other choices available . . .
Such a famous image in fact that it was used on the 2007 U.K. Blu-ray release (#1) and has been used on all Blu-ray and DVD releases worldwide but for a couple of exceptions and even those have part of the same image in them - either in a winter setting (#2 Italy BD Amaray) or in the style of a pen & ink drawing (#3 U.S.A. DVD).
(most interesting one IMO is #3 - 2005 release Special Edition DVD with Book - though not as artwork for this steelbook)

More than likely the same region free disc inside with disc comparisons here http://www.dvdcompare.net/comparisons/film.php?fid=10804

Collectors of Tim Burton films (director and/or producer) are very fortunate here in the U.K. as his films are very well represented in steelbooks with nearly all of those of his films released in Amarays also released in steelbooks - most of them are really nice too:-

I'll be waiting for a price drop on this or the Italian version.

Cancelled my Italian one for this as it will work out a bit cheaper - same steel so might as well, decent price imo
I remember when this was t'other way around - when people used to cancel their U.K. releases in favour of the "same" cheaper steelbooks from Italy (LOL)

Why... do you write "same" in quotes?

It actually IS the exact same steelbook!

I know U.K. j-cards are extremely important to you, but going as far as implying they change a steelbook is rather odd I'll say, my dear chap :D.
