Important Group Buy update
Official update for all group buy participants -

The licensing agreement for Black Panther, for unknown reasons, still has not been resolved and because of this Infinity War will now be being released first (roughly early December time). The licensing agreement for Black Panther is looking to be completed around November time but because of the other releases (infinity War, Greatest Showman, Three Billboards), Black Panther will not ship until January 2019 at the earliest.

Infinity War will ship with the same editions (1/4 slip + Box, One Click, DL, SL and full slip)

Group Buy members, we have a couple of options for you -

1. Transfer
Your Black Panther request will automatically be transferred to the same edition to that of Avengers: Infinity War. You will then be guaranteed a spot for Black Panther, which will be charged for again later on in the year (or potentially January 2019)

2. Refund
You can cancel your Black Panther request and be refunded. Please note that should you change your mind afterwards we cannot allow you to repurchase Black Panther. At this time there will not be a further GB for it (however this may change although not guaranteed)

3. Wait it out
Wait for Black Panther to be released. If you decide to wait it out, as a thank you we will enter you into a HDN sponsored prize draw.

The official GB for Avengers: Infinity War won't be live until November.

I will be sending this as a PM to all participants tomorrow too with the relevant instructions.

I buy blufans editions that I like ( the movie and the steelbook art)

Don't give a rat's ass what the value is on eBay. I open everything. So there is no incentive for me if it appreciate in value.

I don't buy it as a investment. If I thought I would have to sell up in the future then I would never buy it in the first place.

There will always be enough buyers of blufans steels nomatter how they perform on eBay. Contrary to what you think most people buy them because they love them and not some twisted belief of monetary value.
I also only buy steels that I have the intention of keeping (and opening!), but regardless of how you and I may feel about them, many see these as collectibles and treat and value them as such. It would be naive to ignore that it plays a huge role in the creation and marketing of these premium titles.

Yep, and that’s why some members use gloves lol. When I started to collect statues I saw people doing this in their unboxing videos wearing gloves which I initially thought was bizarre. Then I realised that a few thousand dollar statues perhaps warrant a little more consideration and care.

But when I see collectors using gloves to unwrap and touch their steels, I am confused even more as they are not high valued items. Just steelbooks in a bit of packaging. Big deal if you get them dirty or some finger print marks. I realise perhaps that collectors are OCD in the same manner as the expensive statues, they ‘Value’ their collectible regardless of cash value.

I guess this as OCD thing - keeping your steelbooks sealed just as keeping toys and figurines in their original packaging. Doesn’t necessarily mean you are going to offload later. Some appreciate the buzz of not opening their collectibles. It’s one these bizarre habits you only understand if you are in that position. @StifflersDad

Amen to that. The idea of "Oh I better grab two just to make a quick buck" doesn't even register to me. Seems like a prick move, and money in my pocket now is worth more to me anyways.

No kidding. I cannot begin to count how many times I have offered group buy items here at slightly above retail while the secondary market soared.

Grabbing an extra copy is a short term game.

Never really imagined Black Panther will be more in demand than Thor Ragnarok.

Well before infinity war, wasn’t black panther the biggest box office for Marvel?

Also WEA. I really don’t like the WWA...to pop art ish.

I open and enjoy all my blufans. People who keep them sealed must be in some financial worries and one day plan to sell them if all goes to hell.

As much as i understand where you are coming from, I agree with @tommyh84's comparison; "That's like saying you cant shop at Zavvi because you shop at Amazon."
But anyway, my point is, why is HDN even worried about this? Compare the % of people who are happy with the way GBs are run here vs the % of people who are not. I only see a very few who complain about the GBs vs many more happy ninjas' "secured my copy" post. We know for a fact that we can't please every single person. So why try to fix something that's not even broken? :)
Unless i'm completely off and the majority here thinks the HDN GBs suck?

Not trying and create a can of worms again with all this. But I will give my 2 cents in a civil manner.

If you are a Blufans ‘VIP’ you are guaranteed any release. Why would you need to order at HDN? The answer for that is you either want duplicate copies and ‘scalp’ or you want to exercises your right to choosing which forum to shop at.

No one is denying that everyone can not be pleased.

GB’s do run fine.

But..... there is no harm to consider having a few tweaks for the very rare blood bath limited releases wouldn’t you agree?

I would also feel if more and more people begin to miss out because members can exercise the right and grab multiple copies from different GBs and ‘scalp’ in which ever method they approach, and no acknowledgement or even considerations have been noted about it, that’s fine. All that encourages is for everyone to ‘indirectly scalp’ on these extremely popular and low print run GBs.

So if I miss out and discover the same people scalping and abusing the very sought limited GBs, no big deal, I will scalp myself and encourage everyone else to. Because it’s allowed, if they can do it why can’t we?

But right now I choose not to. It’s ethically wrong. But if no tweaks will be considered and I feel the GBs are not effective, I’m not gonna moan, I’m gonna scalp myself and play this silly game myself.

The very fact that a VIP has secured a copy for himself then there is no need to cop another copy here. One edition per collector should be enough if it is a very limited release, ala Doctor Strange limited. Let’s learn to share.

I am VIP and I have never joined a BluFans GB here.

Does anyone have an actual list of all the VIP accounts?

As others have said it's available in the "Blufans steelbook list and retailer chat" sticky thread on the other site. Currently listing 402 VIPs.
Kevin has removed the additional copies some VIPs had ordered if they had also ordered a 1click and has distributed these to people that didn't make the cut in the GB threads.
I'm a VIP and order all my Blufans through Kevin purely because it's easy to preorder and I don't have to worry about being around for a GB. But I've never thought about getting extra copies from here or elsewhere to sell on.
And tbh with paypal and ebay fees what they are now you've got to charge so much for things just to make a little bit of profit and it's not worth my time.

Also to all the people saying "oh it would be so easy to check if people are ordering from different places" It's also very easy to have an additional paypal account linked to a friends or relatives address and use that and a different screen name when ordering.

I've been doing all my group purchases on this forum, ever since Ant Man. The only one I ever had a problem with was Dr. Strange which I only JUST managed to get a single lenticular copy of, but my brother was after a double lenticular and missed out. We're not collectors, just movie fans who appreciate good artwork and when amarays ended up getting worse and worse we headed to steelbooks, and when UK steelbooks got worse and worse, we headed on here. To make it worse, we rarely go to the cinema now so end up waiting for the steelbook as our first chance to view these movies (And with some of them the wait seems to go on forever). So I tried to get him a double lenticular from the other forum and missed out there too, but what annoyed me was that he was missing out on something that he really cared about and there were the same names on each group buy, asking for single, double, Fullslip, one click. I don't know what the answer is, but it sometimes gets frustrating being unable to get something you love (The art, the extra goodies, and the disc content) because of people who want more than one.

I think it's probably the case that most VIPs just order what they need for themselves rather than doubling up through HDN for resale purposes. It's not like these things are cheap. To order extra copies to sit on for speculation/resale purposes would be an initial outlay that few collectors would want to budget for. Especially considering the hassle of ebay listing and the additional fees that have to go to ebay/Paypal when reselling. I'm sure it happens but perhaps not on the scale we might imagine. That's just my reading of it though, only Blufans themselves would know the truth of it.

If you are a Blufans ‘VIP’ you are guaranteed any release. Why would you need to order at HDN?
Only applies to Blufans Exclusives though. OAB's are exempt from VIP ordering. So how would HDN tackle that out of curiosity? Only allow them to return and order OAB's here when simultaneously they could easily (or at least try) ordering another copy at the other site anyway... ? It's a very difficult task to manage for anyone but I agree sthg could be trialled and perhaps implemented but that would involve Blufans help to manage that, which again, I can't see happening myself.

It would be a step in the right direction if us as regular HDN users and buyers who continually support the GB's here were given some form of "perk" similar to that of the other forums VIP system. I believe @Wreck may be cooking sthg up. Maybe not but hope so.

So you ban Blufans VIPs from ordering on both sites in an attempt to stop multiple orders but what is stopping a non vip joining a group buy on both sites anyway under two usernames and two shipping addresses?

What is stopping someone from HDN joining a HDN group buy with alternate accounts.. All they'd need is one account open on their phone and another on a computer at live time?

Buying an extra copy here seems to be the focus as scalping is being talked about alot but how many people are buying one copy through a group buy and selling it on? How do you police or stop those?

Everyone is talking about HDN and Bluray.com but I'm sure I've seen that else where do Blufans group buys.. How do you police people who are purchasing through there as well as HDN and/or bluray.com

I mentioned One clicks being a problem yesterday as they take up 3/4 copies of a release per one click but most people are slip collectors and will buy two lenticulars editions (say a single and a double) to have both and open one to use, that's fine but you've essentially got a steelbook there not being used for the sake of having a slip which prevents someone from actually owning the steelbook. Alot of people buy WWA releases and I'm sure they'd house such releases in a blufans slip if given the opportunity. What I'm saying is maybe Blufans have x amount of the steelbooks bundled with slips and x amount of steelbooks and slips sold separately that way people can get their slip fix without hurting the chances of others who perhaps would only like the steelbook. As HDZeta has proven in recent weeks and as alot of people have requested in the past... There is definitely a market for steel only and slip only options for releases

Most GBs run fine. It’s the odd one or two as seen in Dr Stange and no doubt this release where consideration is needed. As you said, I am sure the Admins are all taking in our feedback from closed doors of what is the appropriate course of action (if any).

not to hate on anyone but when i see steels being opened with gloves, it makes me feel uncomfortable. just looks creepy and weird and send out a strange vibe. collecting is supposed to be fun not a tense chore

there have been times when my OCD got the best of me but now i just ignore it. these are silly collectors items, what does it matter...

that said, i do keep lots of my stuff sealed until i watch it, and some editions i will always keep sealed, especially when i triple dip. i consider them prestige copies. and i enjoy them more staying sealed

sometimes i buy stuff already opened and then i can get the best of both worlds and pay a lot less !

Folks, move on from this circular discussion please. Some posts that add nothing to discussions have been removed. Where there is a will there is a way to obtain multiple copies. Anytime a collectible is relatively limited, there will be scalpers and people who create multiple accounts here and elsewhere. People have multiple affiliations, memberships in special clubs, inside connections. It can't be avoided.

Let's refrain from insults, accusations and attacks at this site. It has never been cool or accepted here, and won't ever be. Everyone comes here to have fun and learn about new exclusives-let's keep it that way. If you are not willing to abide by common courtesy and continue to post inflammatory remarks towards other members, we'll have to limit or remove your account. As always, if you have a personal disagreement with the same member over and over, take it to pms so everyone watching the thread is not embroiled in drama between 2 or 3 people. If it cannot be resolved amicably as adults, then please contact a Moderator so we can determine further action.

Remember, comments can be miscontrued on the internet, but no one should take license to assault, harass, threaten or attack anyone because they feel they are anonymous.

Thanks,
