Wait a minute... 3 HOURS LONG?!?! EEK!

I'm sorry, but the only time I buy a 3-hour-long film is when it's a Lord of the Rings film or a Spielberg film. I just don't have the time and when I do, it's just to watch it once and never more than once.

Bummer. I was excited because of everyone raving about the performances.

The three hours I spent watching this film flew by faster than for some crappy 90-minute films ;).

I just don't see how length can be a decisive criteria. Where's the cut-off limit, 150 minutes is fine, 155 minutes is too much? It's really not that much of a difference, if the film is good then a few extra minutes shouldn't matter — so many blockbusters are around 140-minute long nowadays, what's an extra 39 minutes? Especially if you wanted to check out the performances of the leads (astonishing) in this, you shouldn't refuse to buy it purely because of its length (and if if's good, it replays well, length has no part in this either imo).

Imagine you're watching a full, regular 2-hour film and then half of another :p - actually, the original title of this film is La vie d'Adèle — Chapitres 1 et 2 (though it was only released as a 3-hour film, not in two parts).

I for one will get my order in for this, PA's first two releases were wonderful so there's no reason to think this one won't be. I wonder what will be #003 though, Zero Dark Thirty or I Saw the Devil : I hope it's the latter as Zavvi's release date for their exclusive steelbook is looming (July 7) and also because I will probably pass on ZDT since I already have the Dutch steelbook and I don't double dip (unless the front features a close-up on Jessica Chastain :emb:), so better to make ZDT #005 so I can at least have the first four Plain Archive exclusives :p.

#003 is "The King of Pigs"

I hope they release "I saw the devil" first. Not so keen on ZDT to be honest.

I completely agree! I can understand that tridon doesn't always feel like watching a 3 hour long movie. I'm the same way. But there are times when I do and for those times I have movies such as this one.
If you're a film fan you make the time to watch the movies that catches your attention. I'd much much rather watch a long movie that I've heard nothing but great things about and that has peaked my interests over watching 2 medicore films. Or 5 for that matter! It's always quality over quantity for me and if that means I have to watch longer movies then so be it.

That being said, I do understand that time is a very valuable commodity these days and that we all have more than 1 hobby or interest and might not want to deplete the amount of free time we have by watching a 3 hour movie that doesn't have superpowers in it.

Cannot believe I will not have the funds to buy this :-( Arrgh... This is one of the most beautiful and intense movies I watched at the cinema last year. So brilliant... It is a shame really that we only have an amaray in France...

This was a joke about tridon's post about movies which a playtime over 3 hours ;)

I hope PA releases "Requiem for a Dream"; "Antichrist"; "Trainspotting"; "No Country For Old Man"; and so on...

I'm gonna join the race for the lowest number guys. ;)

When Melancholia went live I was on holidays and had to order on my phone and even when I got my order in after 3mins I got #96.

I'm not too fussed about the number though, most important thing is that I don't miss out completely but I'm gonna give it a try. :D
