Canada wave 2 defective steelbooks?

Hello everyone,

Almost every steelbook has a dent on the front (bottom left hand corner). You will see it after you removed the blue sticker.

Most widely Batman Begins (so far) and other titles additionally may have the defect.

I think the machine placing the "Incluse Francais" pressed a little too hard on the Steelbook™ hence the dent.

As for removing the dent:
1) Remove the plate...carefully.
2) GENTLY rub out the dent using a soft leaded pencil.

Using a piece of paper between the pencil's lead and the Steelbook's interior, I presume?

Amazon.ca has issued a total refund for my lost package...
I asked for a replacement, but Batman Begins is now out of stock, they can't send a new one

I just have to put BB and Goodfellas on my want list now

Perhaps a nice canadian member would be ok to help me out with 4 titles on my want list (law abiding citizen, batman begins, goodfellas, 2001 a space odyssey).

I don't want to hear again about DHL before next year, and I am fed up with custom fees on EACH amazon.ca package. The lost one was charged for €7... €3,5 per title

Not so lucky afterall...

I first said that all 5 of my Warner wave 2 Steels were perfect... well, I was wrong.

out of the 5 from this wave 4 of them did not have this now famous dent (which is awesome ). However, My Goodfelles Steel does bare the mark! I could see it right away or even feel it for that matter but as soon as i shifted its position in the light it became as clear as day-visible.

oh well.

Well, mine arrived with a 46 euro customs bill attached.
I opened them....

2001...staple mark
Batman Begins....mint
Heat....Compression ding
Matrix...mint
Goodfellas...staple mark

Will never use Amazon.ca again.....

I can live with the staple mark, as it is only very slight....but a dinged Heat, not acceptable....and a customs bill of 46 euros, bloody outrageous.

I have to say for anyone new to the steelbook collecting this would be enough to put them off, very bad vibe indeed.

Thank god there are enough good people on this site that care that these items need to be treated like pieces of glass and not just thrown in a box.
This is not the first time this has happened, some of you may remember what happened with the metalpaks that were released in Holland a few months back.

Having read this I have gone back and checked my (opened) 2001 and definately no mark. The sealed one, I can't feel anything under the sticker, but that may not prove anything; however, I'm hoping as these both came together then they both came from the same batch and should both be mint. Saying that, though, I'm just keeping this sealed so no biggy. Bought both from amazon.ca.

Just checked all of mine. All perfect. I picked them up at Future Shop. They are easy to check without opening. The label comes off easily. Bidou, if you still need a hand, PM me.

Well, I'm going to have to eat my words too. Both Matrix and Goodfellas have that slight mark in the lower left hand corner when examined under certain light conditions. It's not really a dent but more a slight mark. The impression or mark is so faint I don't think I'll bother with returning them to Futureshop. It certainly not noticable when looking head on but becomes apparent when examining from the bottom edge under certain light. I'm sure if I returned them they would think I was nuts and I bet the majority of people won't see it. Bummer.

Just got back from futureshop and their cameras probably has an eye on me.

checked more than 13 in 2 stores and all Batman has the indent underneath the label.

Matrix, Goodfellas, Heat, and 2001 some has and some don't.

From freedom88's post and some other folks chiming in, it looks to be a manufacturer defect on some copies, with the most consistent of these being Batman Begins. It's not just limited to amazon.ca copies.

I just got amazon.ca to refund me 20% on the affected titles. I don't feel like dealing with the hassle of sending them back, just to get more defected and possibly damaged copies.

Good choice...there is no point to get the replacement since most of them carry the same defect.

I just fixed mine.

well ive just checked my 3 again and i dont believe i missed it ive posted earlier all 3 were mint i was wrong matrix and batman have the defect can only just make it out on matrix but its there. but more noticeable on batman but nothing really major funny though heat is perfect not a mark on that one.

EDIT:i emailed amazon.ca and they have offered either 20% discount off of the original steels or complete replacements for both free of charge what do you guys think i should do. are the new ones going to have the dent or has this being ironed out now?

I received my Steelbooks yesterday and Batman Begins, Goodfellas and The Matrix all had the c shaped indentation. Luckily it was easily removed with the aid of a soft lead pencil.

I think I got lucky then, 'cause my Batman begins has no dent. It's in perfect shape.
