I held out on all other releases waiting for this one, if it fails to impress me, I'll go for the ES exclusive.

and too many steels ? I think Rush had how many ? lol there is still a market for another Exclusive Divergent Steel, Still New movie not old and a nice watch...can't get enough of Shailene :p

Im so glad Nova is releasing this title! My poor Wallet will be able to recuperate a tiny bit from the enormous beating it took from Lone Survivor, Cap 2, and I saw the Devil. Not to mention all the other recent releases.

Anyway, Im just glad to get a breather. This would be a great Title for ultra limited print run, might even sell out at 1k.

Too late. We already get late releases from Blufans.
Yes and it still seems like Blufans is doing pretty well for themselves. They have quite a following. So were you trying to imply Novamedia will end up as popular as Blufans?

(If Novamedia puts out a Blufans-quality release of Divergent, I will be a happy, happy, happy fan. :))

I don't think you can compare the two. There is a huge market for Formula One around the World which Rush was able to take advantage. It was also very well received unlike this film which didn't get great reviews from critics or moviegoers.

true that you can't compare both as mostly they are not for the same audience, but in terms of box office $ Rush Grossed less than the Budget of the movie for the US and Divergent cost 2 1/2 times more than Rush to make and Grossed double the Budget of the Movie...so just on that level Divergent did better... worldwide that I don't know and releases also, but never the less Divergent is a movie that can Bring the $. Rush may have a market for Formula one fans around the world but Divergent has a huge worldwide market for people between 13 to 18 and 18 to 25 and so on...it does reach a higher demographic

#1 New York Times bestselling Divergent is the novel that inspired the major motion picture... has captured the hearts of millions of teen and adult readers.

Edge Of Tomorrow 1/4 slip will be part of the Nova Choice Line, it will not be part of their Exclusive WEA line up.

Not sure what "deserves" a Novamedia steel. The company has released a whole two Steelbooks (well technically one, but the second can be pre-ordered). It' not like there have much of an identity/culture/whatever you want to call it. Not to mention, Novamedia is just a company that has a right to release certain movies. It's not like they make the movies themselves, instead they get rights to things they think they can make money off of.

When people talk about what "deserves" a release, they seem to just be projecting their own personal tastes on a company. "I did not like Movie X, so I don't understand why Company Y is releasing it". Simple answer, Company Y is not created to cater to one person's film choices. The good news is, when you don't like a particular film you do not have to buy it.

I'm not sure if this will sell well for Novamedia (it's getting released pretty late relative to other countries a la Lone Survivor). But I'm sure Novamedia will at least give it a go at being a nice release.

Having only a 1/4 slip for Edge of Tomorrow was a terrible choice. I would have LOVED to get a Full/Lenti Slip for it.

Divergent doesn't deserve to get a NM release IMO. This movie is a teenager audience movie which had terrible critic ratings. Not what I would mark for a cool steel. It would be different if the movie was actually good like Hunger Games.

it's all relative, really enjoyed the movie and Love seeing Shailene on a steelbook ! and the critics were not ''terrible'' as you state(you could always find critics that doesn't love a movie). It brought the dough at the box office and it's a popular release, the book is a best seller and also listed pretty well in the Amazon Best selling Rank for Blu-ray releases. And again you say it's a terrible choice for Edge of Tomorrow, that is you own opinion; you can say that you don't like their choice and you'll pass on it, but this is your own opinion as some collectors love 1/4 slips. Again remember it's a Nova Choice not a nova exclusive(that I would say ok for an exclusive release they needed to do a lenti).

and I agree with what @Jericho said in his post

Look, if it was just me I might agree with you but RT gives it a 40% and every person I've talked to in the real world disliked the movie and thats a combination of teenagers, adults, book fans, and non-book fans alike.

On the other matter, I'm not saying that they shouldn't release whatever movie they want. And when I use the word "deserves" I meant as I said, the target audience for the movie aren't generally the people who are going to spend $60 on collectible releases. It was just my opinion that the received critic rating combined with the target audience made it a poor choice. Although I do not like Movie X I can understand why Company Y might release an edition of movie X. For example, the Best Buy steelbook for this was a pretty good idea because its price was reasonably close to the regular edition.

Another example, I thought Thor 2 was a terrible movie. On the other hand it was an excellent choice for expensive collector's editions around the world because the target audience is much more likely to spend a lot of money on collectibles.
Guess who else isn't the target audience for this movie: 30-, 40-, and 50-year old male movie critics.

First of all, Rotten Tomatoes doesn't "give" any movies a rating. They just compile individual reviews and ratings. Second, RT lists a critic rating of 41% for Divergent. But they also list an audience rating of 72%. Third, the target audience for this particular release is Korean teenagers: how many of them have you talked to? Fourth, it's not going to be $60--it'll likely be $38 again. (Even with shipping, that comes out to under $50 for most of the world. And the target audience--Korean youth, won't have to worry about shipping if Novamedia sells this in domestic stores.)

Bottom line is that @Jericho's post that you quoted is pretty accurate. You're projecting your own personal taste on this release and now you're figuring out ways to validate it. Well, if you want to selfishly stop this release from happening, please provide us with some real facts. Or better yet: you've said your piece, you aren't interested in this particular release, so just move on. As tough as it is for you to understand--some of us really are excited to see this.

That projected December release seems unlikely. Actually, any release at this stage is questionable.

Hope you got your ES copy, it is stunning !!! really nice slick steel and also the Future Shop Exclusive is really nice also, nice quality but it is Matte so for those who don't like matte it's not for them but I love it, love both release. Can't wait for the 2nd movie coming up soon :wacky:
