I was the same, I don't know why I didn't get them

I've decided the first thing I'm going to do when I finish building my time travel machine, and that's go back and buy the steels I missed when they were first available :hilarious: :scat:

Yup - I remember walking past Thor, Captain America and Super 8 (my kid loves that flick) and thinking I'll pick them up whenever - ah well.

On a side note, I would be useless with a time machine - some people might use it for good but I think I would end up handing out Zippo lighters to cavemen and riding dinosaurs. Probably.

I passed on the HMV Cap, and have no regrets. It was a pretty dull looking steel, and flimsy to boot. Had one in hand, and still don't think it was worth the £20 asking price. The film was OK, nothing special, but its role as an Avengers prequel elevates it.

I much prefer this version of the steelbook. I probably still wouldn't bother with the film if not for the Avengers connection though.

I did had the HMV Thor though, bought it to watch. Sold it because it was going for daft money, and I didn't care about keeping it until The Avengers came out.

I originally missed out on them and paid the price for it.

I had these on pre order, but now have the HMV one's, so cancelled the order. Its more the basic amaray to steel artwork that has put me off. The back of the Thor steelbook is shocking.

The Captain America does not look that bad to be fair, but its very much a "meh" effort from £avvi. They could have done so much better than the designs chosen.

I think it's been shown that Zavvi do listen. They ran a poll on the interior artwork for The Wicker Man, they've also changed the artwork for The Goonies.

The thing is, by-and-large, Zavvi don't really have a say in what artwork is chosen. They can ask for exclusive steelbooks but I suspect after that, it's pretty much out of their hands.

Paramount have (more often than not) simply reused existing artwork on their (re-release) steelbooks. The Untouchables, Iron Man, Iron Man 2, War of the Worlds, Mission: Impossible 1, 2 and 3 and so on and so on. I'd say that Zavvi have no say over what the product looks like or how many discs it contains etc.

If Warner wouldn't alter Batman Forever to match the other 3 (even though, they must have known people would complain, and had plenty of time to do so*), what's the chance of Paramount listening?

Artwork is commissioned, signed off, gets actor, director approval etc. etc. and that's what gets used. We just have to accept it and either buy, or not buy accordingly.

*ironically, they have changed The Goonies!

I cancelled this along with Thor. Prioritizing steels I want and I didn't hold these two with high regard.

I hope this hase some nice embossing and colouring! I am excited for this and Thor! Then all Ill need for my Marvel collection will be Iron Man 1 & 2, and The Avengers, and I wouldnt be surprised if Zavvi releases all 3 of these over the course of next year! :D

I had this along with Thor on order, but decided to cancel them as i was able to get the originals. I will wait for some in hand pics to decide if i should re-order these, as i don't think they will sell out anytime soon.

based on wreck saying in the thor thread, that thor would use pre agreed artwork (previously seen on amamray releases) i took that principal to mock up a captain america using that as a guideline.

Boba...if they listened to you on Wreck it Ralph....here's to hoping they agree to change to this....and then hire you as their main designer.....

Same here ^. Haven't ordered because the film is average and artwork is poor but if it was changed to that I would be very tempted.

I posted this in the Thor thread and the same applies here:

I doubt this and Captain America would get changed as it's a little under two months until release date. These are probably in production now. Wreck it Ralph isn't out until December so lots of time to change that one.

I agree though that is 'amaray' art is disappointing but I wouldn't hold my breath for any changes.
