Looks nice but heard it doesn't contain the remastered disc. Why Studios keep doing this that too on re-releases is beyond me.

What exactly is the difference between this and the 'remastered' version? Inferior picture and audio quality or just missing some Special Features?

Like Ricster said, they're getting rid of unsold older discs. It's usually that or they fail to include extras discs. So F them, they can keep it. No sale!

Ordered this and North by Northwest and am waiting for the postman to ring the doorbell! One of the most enchanting movies I saw, and would love the steel, just wouldn't have been able to sleep well if I'd passed it over TBH.

Just got this in the post today along with The Treasure Of The Sierra Madre, Grand Hotel and The Jazz Singer from Play.com's fire sale last week. Just need 3 more to complete the wave. My heart sank when the postie arrived all 4 came loose in a plastic bag with no padding whatsoever, miraculously they were all ok.:D

I really like the look of this SteelBook (and, indeed, the rest of the wave). Reading the quote above, I was a little put off, thinking that the transfer would be quite poor. Then I read a review by Michael S. Palmer at Hi-Def Digest, and I was pleased to read this :-

"But is this holy-crap-it-blows-the-previous-remaster-out-of-the-water good? I don't think most will be able to tell, save for the slight difference in brightness levels. Some might even prefer the previous version."

Its now back in my wishlist. Just waiting for a price reduction :D

This one actually looks pretty good, I think, though it has the same problem as the other releases from this wave. The colours seems a bit off, it looks faded and I really think they should have increased the contrast in the image to make it look sharper. However, I think the poster image is pretty good, which is more than I can say about The Maltese Falcon or even North By Northwest.

I like the idea of using classic posters, but I think in some cases it would have been better to fake it and just create a brand new retro look for it. Or simply choose a different poster image.

i was trying to get this for a while but with so many releases i just keep postpone and postpone, but with the special zavvi is having of 2 steels for 18 pounds you can't say no! lol awesome price!

i ordered this one together with Ben Hur and got them at the same time, great shape, but i dont really like the art for these classics, i wont complaint any more since i got such a great deal....

I'm waiting on this and Gone with the Wind to come in, hopefully later this week.

Yes I bumped this thread. :D

I didn't know about steelbooks back then but I would definitely have purchased this one.

They used my 2 favourite artworks. The poster on the front and my favourite image on the back.

I support the bumping of showing more limelight to yesteryears releases :)

Crazy this one is closing in on a decade!

I read though the thread and I find it funny that even back in 2013 people were already complaining about too many movies getting steelbook releases.

And here are 2 positive comments from this thread by @snooloui :wow:

"Love the designs on this wave. The old designs are much better than normal Steelbook artwork."

"You just can't please some. Most of these titles are what most people would define as 'classics' and only one has been released previously in Steelbook form and yet people are still moaning."
