Do you have any plans or annual activities that you do on Chinese New Years?

Share your plan(s)....

I just came back from the bank, requesting for new bills :scat:
As usual, huge family gathering the night before and start giving out those red envelope and bet on the animal games :scat:

Yup, hope the snowstorm now dies down so the family can get together to celebrate. New bills eh? Neatly folded in thirds or half? :D

nice!

Always best to give new bills. Just go to the bank, and ask them if they have new bills available. If not, then you can always order them in advance. The gal at the bank always seem excited to see me...she knows I request for new bills all the time LOL....told me I was lucky to get her last new bills :)

I fold them based on the size of the red envelope..usually in third.

Now, I need to clean the house this weekend :(

It is considered very good luck to clean house for the New Year I heard. I think I will need as much as I can get for this year :hilarious: Also I make a really good dried oysters and hair fungus dish for the family meal, our specialty this time of year.

Happy Chinese New Year to you and your family May.

Yes, clean the house before and don't clean or change anything for the next 5 days I believe...

If you are born on the year of the dragon, they said not to make any drastic change or decision for the whole year.

Thank you!

Have a prosperous and happy New Year to you and your family as well...and to all Ninjas!

I'm always interested in this. Can you guys explain more? I'm also interested in why other Countries celebrate Chinese New Year?

There is a whole lot of us and we want to be different :hilarious::hilarious::hilarious:

Seriously, Chinese New Year is based off the Lunar calendar developed by the Chinese for thousands of years. I believe this is the year 4710, 4709, or 4649 based on which scholar's system you use :hilarious:

There are new years in Asian countries which are based off a variation of this calendar as well but I am not sure.

Celebrating with family, probably some Hot Pot action!! and of course passing out the red envelopes. I remember how nice it was when I was receiving them as a kid. Now I have to pass them out...

Cool thanks. I've known some people from many different Asian Countries and just was curious of the significance it had on these other Countries. I guess its just the idiot in a person (namely, me. lol) that just assumes if its called Chinese New Year its only for Chinese. Thanks for enlightening me.

Chinese New Years is always nice... Now i feel more obligated to order more steels! :)

Me too provided I have $ left over from giving out those red envelopes/packets :D In fact, I am feeling so lucky, I just pre-ordered Clockwork Goddess :scat:
