* Sits and waits patiently for the Wicker man steel to drop to £6 :D

I can see a few more of Zavvi's steels dropping too, yeah some titles will always sell quickly, maybe even sell out on preorder but as Play found out, quite a few hang around for months...some of Plays exclusives are still easily available now...maybe now they seem to find themselves with a warehouse full of unsold steels they will slow down a bit!

The over buying of Steelbooks by play.com was one of the factors that caused them to end up closing down there retail business
Its a fine line to buying you have to get your stock level right and not take to many risks as a buyer
You can have great result with sort after releases but lesser ones can cause problems
They agreed with studios to take 4000 or more up front and this leaves you with stock you cant return
If you have a lot of stock not selling it will impact your business

Trick with been a buyer is only agree to taking exclusive releases with qty's of 4000 when you know all will sell
Normal releases you don't have to agree to a fixed qty you just order as customers place an order or you keep a stock level based on recent sales
and always get a sale of return agreement with a release when you bulk order to cover your business
Note you cant get a sale of return agreement when you agree to exclusive retail release with set qty
I used to be a buyer with big record/video store and did do lot of bulk buying for a big promotion sales but always made sure I had sale or return or sale of exchange
I turned down exclusive releases on some occasions as I new they wont sell
I also got exclusive deals by approaching the studios you have to know what will sell

I can see what happened to play.com with zavvi if there not carefull

I just can't escape the fact that this movie hasn't aged at all well. The special effects, script and the entire movie is one big cheese fest. Easy pass for me.

Haven't watched it in years. Hoping at least its a decent transfer. Can put up with aged effects and '80s style considering the era in which it was made. :)

My sealed release day copy is going back. Would of saved postage If they'd agreed to give me back £9 instead for keeping it. Never thought to ask. To incensed at this slashed price. Damn. Zavvi the home of slashed spines and slashed prices :hilarious:

Im no expert in retail but can you still get a refund on something you bought 4 months ago?

I'm sure they'll just tell you to get stuffed and I wouldn't blame them. Lesson learned for me though, i'll only be pre-ordering the ones I really want from now on.
