Just found this, it's a Target online exclusive. It seems to be the same as Future shop.

This is a very good thing - it says to Target that there's an audience for this type of collectible in the US and they can have a successful run if they do more.

Let's just hope they realize the difference between how much we like steelbooks and how much many of us dislike metalpaks (see Iron Man 2).

Totally agree. Hopefully they learn from this, and it's not just a one time thing.

FYI-my orders placed yesterday were cancelled today, stating it was 'temporarily out of stock'. Folks in group buy were refunded. Good luck to anyone with existing orders, and to anyone else still trying to get one! :scat:

Weird, I didn't place mine til the evening, so hopefully I wasn't too late. That's unfortunate, when did you place your order?

What? So there is a chance they can cancel any order placed since yesterday? I placed orders - once in the afternoon yesterday and my final four last night. I wonder if they "overbooked" the orders online. That would be a shame but a good thing like apsmith21 said.

:(

Hey Rob, I placed it as soon as soon as I read the thread here yesterday, to switch folks over to USA ed from FS ed. I am thrilled to see another G2 at a USA retailer, so even if they overbooked, hopefully the demand for G2 Steelbooks(TM) in the US registered loud and clear! :scat:

I know I ordered after you. I expect to get an email shortly then.

Hey Chip-actually Target has a history of doing this. I placed many orders for items that went in and out of stock, for folks and orders didn't seem to be processed in a linear fashion. There are different 'stages' of order processing, especially when 'drop shipping' via third party distributors (which Target uses) is concerned. The orders are not necessary 'completed' at all stages of the order process in the order that they are received, so I wouldn't worry unless you actually receive an e-mail from them.

Ok. That is weird that yours got cancelled as they lowered the price today and people were able to order. Oh well. Should always be first come first served.

I cancelled my order of one and put in another order of two last night after learning that Target was only getting 500 pieces. Wish I got the lower price, but got free shipping out of the new order, so it's pretty much a wash for me.

Hey Chip-yep, I agree....some retailers are 'first come first served' but I have heard of this happening at other retailers, too-some orders are processed and pushed out right away, while others hang. I have personal knowledge of these types of systems because of work, and unfortunately it all depends on the retailer's order processing system and how they are set up for fulfillment.

500 copies? for some reason im not sold on this number.has Wreck confirmed this? i think more will be sold in target stores like Iron Man 2 or another location (Best Buy);) in the U.S.when it is released.i need my man Wreck to confirm this "bogus" number

What seems bogus about it if it sold out in around 24 hours ?

Wreck confirmed it would be pretty limited, he didn't say how many though. I have no reason to doubt what they posted on their facebook page.

with discussions of cost to produce the steelbooks,i just dont believe only 500 were made.i think there's a good chance that they received the remaining copies from futureshop which would make me think that more than the 500 copies were made from the same batch.hopefully Wreck's contacts would be able to confirm this.

No one likes to state quantities until the info is made public by the studio. I was told before hand it was extremely limited. Then when the info was made public I was able to get that confirmed.

I know they don't normally do anything of this limited in quantity ... but although speculative, its pretty easy to figure out the quantity came off the top of the FutureShop order. IMO.

I will say this tho ... if this comes back in stock, everyone should bombard the uni facebook asking what it is limited to now. Since they divulged the info once, I presume they would again. ie. if limited to 500 becomes limited to 1000 etc.

I just hope it has some target stickers on it or something, so it just doesnt look identical to the FutureShop one. If so, it'll be pretty damn collectible limited to 500 and all.

However, do they really "sticker" up their online only products? Time will tell....

This practice has happened before for other Countries and is happening again on another upcoming title.

The most obvious of this practice, is in Asia. Take Lion King for example, same steel but different slips or j-sleeves, stickers etc. etc. Shared run, each throws their lil j-sleeve on it etc. Only difference is, none of them market it as "Limited to X amount" when they technically could.

One thing that continues to bug me is that Target gets this US exclusive while Future Shop's parent company, Best Buy, sits/stands/kneels quietly on the side. Does Best Buy not believe in the G2 steelbooks anymore?

Yes I agree with Wreck - let's hope Target makes this super exclusive with a sticker to distinguish its edition from Future Shop's. Then we could be talking about another Iron Man EEK!

Target used to sell a bunch of dvd steels, so I'm happy to see them getting back in. And the success of this title could open up a lot more for the US collector market. Studios actually dont believe the USA has a collector market. (at least not worth the risk) Yeah, I know its crazy ...

I believe Futureshop and BestBuy work independently from each other even though BestBuy bought them. I have worked in the corporate world for too long, acquired many companies. Once we see, if ever, Futureshop name being replace with BestBuy, then we'll have one release. Until then, I see them operating as independent company.

Another Iron Man futureshop? I don't believe Iron Man was limited at all, it's just that the demand exceeded the supply. Iron Man futureshop was on eBay for several months for $50 :) Keep in mind, Iron Man is a billion dollar franchise.
