I can't believe there isn't a thread in here strictly for Beer. Well now there is.

So I'm going to Phoenix and this store is about 3 miles from the house I am renting. I need some recommendations of beer they sell. I'm looking for Hoppy beers please. I've had a few of them they sell but not allot. HELP ME OUT!

Thanks

BoB

I'm running a beer enthusiast group here at the office, and we're having our second meeting tonight. We have it in conjunction with two other offices and have something like a video conference to share what we've had and what we thought of the beers we tried.

Tonight's theme and menu: Lagers
Schlafly - Pilsner
Ferguson Brewing Co - Black Lager
Urban Chestnut Brewing Co - Zwickel (Classic German Lager)

extra non-theme beer: Ferguson's Vanilla Burbon Porter

I've attached a pic of UCBC's growlers. Their Brew Master was a Brew Master for AB for a long time. He was also the one that came up with Shock Top and a couple others.

Trade update! Remember the guy I was telling you about that was willing to trade as long as I gave the bottle back? Well, he hadn't gotten back with me on BA for about 2 or 3 weeks until this morning when I told him that I got an empty from the brewery.

Not really. I've attached one that shows it's size in relation to a regular growler.

I finally got the empty bottle trade done. So now I've got a full bottle of Schalfly Vol 1: Imperial Pilsner and a Vol 2: Hop Toddy, an empty Vol 3: Citrus Wit (really good), and Vol 4: Southern Hemisphere IPA comes out today! That's the full series.

EEK!EEK! thats awesome! did you group buy from europe?

Sigtuna (brewery) that makes some good beer, they have series called Ace of Spades, last year it was imperial stout and this year imperial ipa

Oppigårds (brewery) that have a good spring and later summer ale, also an IPA called Drakens DIPA (wich was a winner in a homebrewing contest last year that the brewery bought the rights to brew)

Nynäshamn (brewery) got Sotholmen Extra Stout

got local brewery called Malmö Brygghus that makes an rather good Cacao-Porter

some that came to mind, then we got some large brewerys that just makes massmarket stuff
if you can get hold of any of the mentioned in the states I don´t know
most if these are reviewed at ratebeer.com

lol, i didnt see the post actually. sorry :emb:

ive heard mixed things bout the infinium. let us know how this year's is, i think its hit or miss with most people.

the abita turbo dog i havent had, but their vanilla double dog i have and the turbodog is the base beer for the vanilla one. the VDD was very good, so im sure the turbodog is as well.

ive also had the new belgium snow day and 1554. snow day was good, but i liked 2 below better (that was last years winter seasonal they produced). 1554 is a great brew, one of my favs by NB.

can't tell which leine's that is, but im not a huge fan of them, especially since they are now owned by miller-coors. but they make pretty good session beers, and i never complain when i drink one. it kinda looks like nut brown, which i think i had once but dont remember much about it. the only beer they make that i wont drink is the summer shandy. if you see any big eddy by leine's you should buy it, solid russian imperial stout.

all in all thats a huge beer haul! thats the way to do it too, buy by the bottle to find out which ones you like best! im still doing that since there's just too much beer out there that needs to be tried :scat:

here is the final beer haul for the christmas season :scat::scat:

i think my family noticed my recent surge in interest in beer :hilarious:

EDIT: i forgot, my family also got me a Central Waters Exodus, giving me two which is perfect because word on the street is that this one will be much better with a year or two of cellaring. but ill get to try one now and then see if thats true!
